Holding on to the manager and this group of players. I’d be optimistic of another good season as long as we can keep the squad from being gutted.
I'm trying not to be knee-jerk, but it looks nailed on to me that we're going to lose this squad/manager. Too good for our financial standing.
Think we’ll have a different looking team next season with quite a few sold. They’ll be teams in for Val as well
There's going to be a balancing up in the Championship, so many teams in financial trouble. We'll sell at the right price, Mowatt and Dike won't be back. However how many young raw talented kids will want to come to us now? If big Val leaves then we'll get the lad from our Belgian feeder club. We're now part of something much bigger than before. Kitching looked solid, Williams, Moon, Ben Williams coming back. Next cab off the rank approach, take your chance lads. This is just the beginning, and we might have a few South Americans and Yanks playing for us next year.
Absolutely agree with this. There will be one or two sales to balance the books and I'm fine with that. However, they're likely to be in the £10 million + range, which means more will be reinvested. We're on the same trajectory as Brentford, but 2-3 years behind. I reckon that if Helik has a good Euros there might be interest, but the price is going to reflect the fact that he's an international centre back.
I think Helik could easily go for that, ditto Styles (though hopefully not for another couple of years).
I’ll get caned for this, but hey. I wouldn’t personally be too upset if Val left. We’ll get a decent payout, and track record of finding new coaches has been decent. Obviously delighted if he stayed, but I wouldn’t be too surprised if he didn’t.
We’ll be fighting relegation next season rather than top end once the squad is remodelled is my fear.
We’ve just finished 5th in the league. We have owners who are no mugs when it comes to business our players are on long contracts. I think we will sell for decent money. If Helik has a decent Euros he easily worth 10 million Styles we shouldn’t sell for less than 7 or 8 million either. I expect us to offload some fringe players and sell one for a good sum but keep the core of the team. Mowatt will go and Dike of course. But we won’t be selling half the team for a few million in total
No we won't. We've got quality all through the squad, and an amazing recruitment system in place. Players may leave, but we're now a really attractive proposition for the very best young players outside the Premier League. Whoever leaves will be replaced, and replaced well. We might not finish as high as this season (think Wilson's second season, where we played some great stuff but faded away after the Ipswich debacle) but overall we're on an upward trajectory.
Exactly. We're very well run, according to a solid plan. The future is extremely bright, even more so as the chickens come home to roost for more and more of the financial cheats.
Hope your right but I don’t Val will be here and it’s yet another rebuild job and whilst we have done well with head coach recruitment so far eventually it’s not going to work out - there is no way in hell we will top this seasons finish.
Retaining players and the manager is entirely down to the management. It may help to demonstrate just how serious this group of owners really is.
Me neither tbh. I’d be disappointed if Val went but not in the slightest surprised considering the worlds media reporting on our progress . Well have somebody on our radar and as long as it’s a Daniel or Gethardt or Valerian and not Morais then I’m happy . Obviously there’ll be fans disappointed if we not winning as many games as Val and that’s a good thing imo keeps interest going as long as we not on players backs in game time . Im happy with progress of our club so far but can understand others that may not sedd ref it if we not winning as many games n future . As long as we’re progressing and more importantly to me giving 100% that all I ask of my team We were absolute fldog in games under McSevenney but the effort was there albeit they weren’t good enough didn’t stop en trying .
We've got a good setup and structure in place and we've just had the best season for twenty years. I think we're in good position whatever happens.
Playing football on the floor; we did it for the last half an hour and it was better than the previous 150 minutes.
Hope so, just so glad I saw Val if he goes as feel like he has been so inspiring and to have missed that would be a travesty.
