Just for a few days, blinkin marvelous, golden rule Got sunburned. Going to try as many pubs as possible
This place has just opened. Looks a cracker (and we've got our beer on there but I know you're a cider man). http://tap-yard.com/
looks nice there, and these look good too. https://www.google.com/search?q=Amb...T_4UKHQBqAHgQ4lYoDHoECAEQMQ&biw=1471&bih=1005
If they've got good beer they'll have good cider & some German beer (lager), no doubt. Was a few decent pubs there on my last visit. 2-3 years ago. No craft only type places though.
Google “The Drunken Duck” just down the west side of the lake from Ambleside. Great pub, great food and the pub has its own brewery.
The only site in the UK to have BrewDog beers in Tank (when we eventually get round to filling them .......)
Our particular favourite is the Britannia Inn at Elterwater. Some nice local beers and wonderful menu, my delight being Lamb Henry, roasted lamb in mint sauce and red wine etc etc. Herdwick lamb is very strong flavoured having been raised on mountain herbs and grass. I try to replicate it at home and it is superb, such wonderful flavours. We bought a half lamb a few years ago from a Langdale farm. My word !!!
Well it’s been an unexpectedly nice day today in Kendal so I expect the same in Ambleside, hope you didn’t start suppin too early and keep yourself away from the fells.
Started ar 1 o'clock finished at afe 9, a steady stagger on but not too bad, dropped on at Golden rule, table for 2 int sunshine, luvly,.
Its a few years since I was last in Ambleside but the lilly served the best pint in town followed closely by the golden rule
