I've only ever seen one film (partially) on the syfy channel.... think it was called something barmy like "freezemageddon" or the like. Yeah.... armed bears and alligators seems almost sensible in comparison!

    Eat or be eaten!

Similar with grey squirrels, vicious they are, american heritage, curiously.

I take it in the 30s the guns weren't as powerful?

I think most people probably agree with this statement.

We just differ on what we would classify as 'capable'.

but they should be licensed, and kept securely locked away. What a wrong with shooting at a gun club?

I'd class being licenced as part of being capable. Along with regular mental health checks and ability tests.

I also think that all guns should be registered (remove the gun show loopholes) and any person with a gun license should be subject to regular spot checks to ensure they don't have any unregistered firearms or ones that are not registered to themselves.

It should also be the law that all firearms are kept securely locked away and that should be part of the spot checks.

Yes or no, do you think there is a serious problem with firearms in America?

In essence, I agree but the problem with everyone's guns being kept in the same location is, if there's a break in then you've got a boat load of weapons and ammo on the streets...

Isn't that what we do here for rifle shooting?

Yeah, but people can still keep rifles and shot guns at home providing strict criteria are met.

I may have misunderstood what you meant Helen, sorry, I thought you meant all guns regardless should be stored at a gun club.

Side note, every time I typed gun club, it autocorrected to fun club :D

Almost 400 million guns in the US. (as of 2017, so almost certainly more now)

Only around 1 million of those are registered.

    More guns than people.

To go off on a tangent skydiving is surprisingly safe. They say the most dangerous bit of skydiving is the drive to the airfield.

As a mental health professional with lived experience of a long term mental health problem, I can say with almost certainty that if I had had a gun in the house last year I would have killed myself. It is too easy to use when in distress.
