I used to run a pub in Lincoln about 22 years ago best bet would be up near the cathedral

There's a nice micro-pub in the back streets just to the north of the street that runs between the Castle and the Cathedral.

The area round the cathedral and steep hill is wonderful.
The bit from the bottom of the hill is pretty much like any town.

I'd agree with that, which is why I tend to stick to Steep Hill. Which really is very fcking steep!

Going up the hill past the magna carta take a right at the post office and up on your left is a pub called beerheadz, fantastic range of beers last time I was over that way well worth a visit. I can recommend strugglers too a cracking pint in there

I can imagine that if you start at the bottom you probably won't get very far. If you're really unlucky you'll end up on the train to Sleaford!

Absolutely nobody deserves to be on a train to Sleaford.

Is there actually anything in Waddington (apart from the RAF base of course)? One of those places which I have driven through literally hundreds of times, but never actually stopped there to get out of the car.

What’s wrong with Sleaford, just out of interest?

I am guessing that you have never been there? It is very run down and has lacked serious investment over the years

I wouldn't say it's at all run down. On the contrary, it's a lovely little town. Extremely safe, very well kept, and the schools are exceptional. It's just very, very boring. Literally nothing ever happens there. However, it's within easy striking distance of Lincoln, Nottingham, Sheffield and London. I can think of far worse places to live, especially if you're a pensioner.

As you say it’s actually a well kept place, the issue with Sleaford though is for all the reason you have given about location (and house prices) over the last 20 years villages around and Sleaford have had a big growth in terms of population influx as result of new houses and the Town hasn’t had investment to match. Having said that, I’m not really sure what they could do to improve it as the potential to invest is very limited by space.
Nice place to live, not much to do.

So do you live round there?

I hated the place when I was a teenager, but I really love going back to visit my parents. For a week. Then I feel the need to go somewhere more interesting. Like Rotherham.
