It’s worth knowing that you can click cancel immediately and your free trial continues as normal. That way you can’t forget and be charged. Whilst I do think their getting people to sign up tactics are getting worse, they are the easiest company I have known to cancel with: ability to cancel online without having to speak to anyone, refund if you’ve not used it (including a smaller refund if you have used it sparingly, I often sign up, use it once for delivery and then cancel at a cost of 99p to myself), able to cancel in advance and still keep services until time period ends etc.
I ordered via Amazon a while back and was not aware I'd inadvertently subscribed to Prime. You have got to be very very careful what you click on. The website is a nightmare. Only when i saw my emails did i see that they were going to charge me in a months time. It was one hell of a search through their site to find the bit where you could cancel.
Bugger. I'm going to have to find something even cheaper now. It reminds me in a roundabout way of a bloke who lives in our village. He would go down the pubs in the next village and then go to the takeaway and order a kebab. They did free delivery and he would order his takeaway to be delivered to his house. He would then cadge a lift off the delivery driver and effectively get a free taxi with a kebab for when he got home
Did you notice this on your bank statement? There is a scam going around where you receive an email saying you have been / are about to be charged and of course you angrily click the link.
I had a similar issue with now tv. About 18 months ago, I ordered a pass from them to watch the reds. They continued to charge me about a tenner a month. No emails, no messages, etc... I didn’t watch it or even log back in to the app for the entire time. I noticed it on my bank statement quite by chance, and realised I had been paying... took me about two hours online snd on the phone to get it cancelled and a further hour of complaining to get about half of the money back. Since then, I’ve had an email from them every week the sneaky brstards.
I don't understand the disparity between UK Prime pricing and pricing in Europe. We pay less than 40 euros a year and for that, we get free express delivery on many items and also Amazon Prime video including 4K content having got the latest firestick (albeit some film content can only be rented or bought for an additional charge) Since we use Amazon a lot for purchases and also watch mainly Prime and Netflix (given how sh*t Italian TV is) We find 15.99 euros per month for Netflix 4K and a little over 3 euros per month for Amazon decent value, especially given my dislike of Sky's business model (High subscription and excessive commercial breaks) Charging £8 per month though for Prime would definitely be a game changer for me especially if some content, like here, carries an additional rent or buy charge.
I keep getting emails from Amazon saying I have unused Prime benefits. I've never used the music, reading or Twitch benefits. The music service doesn't have the music I listen to. Just pop songs. I don't want free skins and packs for games I don't play. At best there are one or two shows on Prime I watch (currently The Terror). But at roughly three quid a month the delivery benefits just about pay for themselves. I do suspect the UK gets ripped off for all its services though. For example, I bit the bullet on Kayo to be able to watch the playoffs. This gives me access to all Fox Sports, ESPN, Bein Sports and a few other things like Arsenal/Liverpool/Chelsea channels. It cost 25 bucks a month or 12 quid in Brexit coin. Isn't it something like 30 odd quid for Sky Sports in the UK?
Amazon music only has pop songs??!?! Not on mine - it's got everything I've ever asked it to play, from 1950s hard bop jazz, MAW remixes, niche indie.... Can't think of anything that Alexa lass has turned me down on.....
Do you have Unlimited? Free with Prime seems to give 2 million songs, Unlimited gives 70 million. A few interesting albums do come up with my searches but it requires Unlimited to access. I may as well just go on YouTube!
Ahh yes, sorry. Don't have Prime, just pay £3.99 a month for music unlimited on the Echo device thing. Can't fault it.
Amazon are notoriously sneaky when it comes to coaxing you into signing up for prime. My dad did it unknowingly and then when he tried to cancel, it did the whole 'are you sure' thing about 6 times. They dress it up as free next day delivery, and then hide a line of text underneath basically saying, if you agree to free delivery, you are agreeing to prime for £7.99 a month etc. I had prime for a while, but decided to cancel as I didn't use it often. One day, I got an email from them saying my free trial had been activated. I cancelled again, but a few days later, I got the same email. It became more and more frequent. I selected the option to sign out of all devices, just in case I'd left it logged onto a device I no longer had. But it became more and more frequent. I phoned them, 3 times, and was assured each time that auto-renew was switched off, and it wouldn't reactivate itself. The third time I called, 14 minutes later, I received an email confirming I'd started my free trial of prime AGAIN!! I then decided to close the account all together. This took a few days to action, but miraculously in the meantime, it stopped automatically signing up to prime. I have a new account now, and thankfully I'm not having the same issue anymore. But I've no idea what caused it. I'd changed my email address, password, signed out of all devices. Eventually having closed my account, I had to sacrifice the movies I'd previously bought on video and books on the kindle. So yeah, keep an eye on your emails.
