We tried him the Championship and he was poor, we struggled terribly and were extremely fortunate not to be relegated. We tried Palmer and we got in the playoffs. Maybe the rest of the team could have carried him and we would have managed midtable, but he would have certainly been a liability that we were having to manage. We have a great player in Palmer. Dougall wasn't one.
Based on what? Palmers played a full season a championship level and hasn't looked out of place dougalls never shone in Championship.
Really rated Dougall when he was with us & it baffled me that both Stendel & Struber picked players like McGeehan & Ritzmaier over him in the championship. Even last season when he got a chance I thought he played really well. He came in & played back to back games in about February time under Struber & I thought he was as good as anyone on the pitch & then he was dropped again & only got a few cameos off the bench until the end of the season. There must be something about him that these managers didn’t like. I don’t think it’s his personality as his former teammates seem to like him & Mowatt said he was the best midfield partner he’s ever had. Glad to see him doing well anyway.
I wish someone had had the inclination to record the 'Top 10 Barmiest Things on the BBS'. Not to mock people or prove them wrong, but just to show the 'variety' of opinions. Is this one barmier than the 'Woodrow is worth twice as much as Toney' comments? Tough call but I'd lean towards Toney.
Can't remember who we played at Oakwell and beat but Paul Digby absolutely bossed midfield. Crunching tackles on the edge of the box. 40 yard runs with the ball. Arriving late in the box for the chance to score. Most definitely came on here claiming he'd end up better than Redfearn. Steven Gerard-esque. Premier League star in the making.
I seem to remember comparing Kelvin Etuhu to Yaya Toure, and saying we should build a squad around Diego Leon
I said, in all seriousness, that David Flitcroft would manage in the Premier League. People told me I was out of my mind, and I was like: you'll see! You'll fúcking see! That worked out well.
Dougall never got a fair crack at championship level with us. He didn’t have a pre season due to the broken leg and on the rare occasion he did get selected he was playing in an unsettled side that was performing poorly week in week out. I’m baffled how people can say he’s not good enough at championship level how many games did he start back to back that season?
Congratulations to Kyle and the rest of the Morecambe lads. Another ex Red to win this weekend at Oakwell South
