Objectively, Mowatt was the second highest rated midfielder in the entire Championship last season for key passes and tackles. Subjectively, he’s also a leader on the field, bringing out the best in other players.
I really don't know where such people get the time or inclination to make up any old rumour they can trot out. They certainly aren't doing it for fame or money it would seem!
Adem “Wigan have won their appeal against their 12 point deduction” Kaya has no sources or intel. Best ignored.
Funnily enough, I find that those who criticise (especially those who persistently criticise and rarely post in anywhere near the same volume when we're winning) always seem extremely sensitive when given a taste of their own medicine. Their retorts always come across with snidey comments like 'incapable of seeing', 'not understanding the game as well as them' & 'wearing rose tinted specs' , simply for disagreeing and holding a different opinion. Two sides to the same coin?
I don't think "rose tinted specs" is a snidey comment? (I'm assuming that bit was aimed at me? ) I think it's in the same camp as Happy Clapper which I've been accused of being many times due my support of the owners during 21 words saga... I don't think anyone's been particularly snidey in this thread, I might have missed one though? Overall it's been a pretty good natured discussion on both sides hasn't it?
Why does it have to be only on this thread? Why do comments aimed at backers of our players attract criticism, yet those who criticise are somehow allowed to escape it? It seems there's one rule for the critics and another for everyone else? I appreciate that others don't rate a number of our players and have every right to post their views. But I also have the right to voice my opinions, as well. You've made your position on the subject quite clear, as have others. I hope I have, too.
What I find weird is that this criticism is always levelled at our best players. There's 20 blokes in our squad who are probably 'decent championship players'. If we were having this conversation about Kane, Palmer, Sibbick, Chaplin, Frieser or Williams then I could understand. You can make the argument that those 6 blokes are 'decent championship players' - with Palmer having the potential to kick on. But we're talking about our club captain. Our leader. The one who smashed one in from 25 yards to win against Watford at home. The one who hit the postage stamp with a free kick against QPR (possibly, I can't remember). The one who controls the tempo from midfield. Who covers every blade of grass. Who's tough in the tackle. I'm not his lover. I just think his a brilliant footballer at the level we play. And if he left us, he would take some replacing.
I'm confused (red wine induced)....aren't you and Red Vesp on the same page / in violent agreement? help!
