There have been government adverts on Talksport and other radio stations for a few weeks...
Not sure where else it has been publicised but it was all over the news when the policy was initially announced.

I didn't understand that so how is a Romanian expected to. Could they be deliberately making it difficult I wonder.

I've seen loads of publicity about it, but then again my wife is German so it's something we are more interested in than most. She applied back in March and got an email acknowledgement saying it would take "5 days to a month, or more" to get a result. She's still waiting. I believe the deadline for applications is 30th June, so if your mate doesn't apply by then he may be in a bit of a pickle.

"5 days to a month, or more" They couldn't be any less specific if they tried

Sir Humphrey is alive and well, and still running things, I reckon.

I’ve seen it advertised loads but I also miss loads of stuff that others see so I can easily imagine people missing it.

The government behind the hostile environment making something immigration related difficult? Never.

But yeah, they are. My other half has special circumstances (is non-EU but relies on an EU residence card). We have to fill in a 63 page paper form, and most of the questions are extremely pointless and designed purely to make the form difficult.

There haven't been any TV adverts in the past year, I heard about it in March. They have had 18 months to plan and promote this but didn't. A lot of responsible employers have been advising employees.
What I read in February, implied that any EU citizen who hadn't achieved it,could be deported.
I don't believe there will be forced removals, due to the fact that in the 5 years since Article 50 was triggered, there has been very little recruitment to the Customs and Border Control agency. A lot of the work has been given to companies like G4S.So much for controlling borders and taking back control.

We've talked about it at work for a good while. Have held drop in sessions to help with people applying too. That said, if we didn't promote it at work, I doubt I'd be aware of it

Update: Believe it or not, after posting this yesterday, my wife has today received notice that her settled status application has been successful.

This is of course entirely due to me posting it on here - the Home Office reads the BBS regularly as part of their Settled Status assessment procedures. A perfect example of the power of the BBS!!

Good luck to @Gravy Chips and anyone else who's waiting for a result.

Just heard from a friend that’s been away and by sounds of it the hospitality sector is suffering from Brexit .
Hotels and restaurants struggling for trained dedicated staff on top of trying to re start business
By all accounts because of restricted travel abroad many are expected to book stay cations as they are now called and the industry is not gonna cope hotels are crying out for staff and the response not good at all .
