    Since masks were brought in we've had 2 national lockdowns..

    'cases' have skyrocketed over and over again.

    If they were that good we'd be back to normal a year after they were enforced.

    Because there isn’t a report out there that takes in to account where those droplets go and how they are passed on in other ways. Disposable masks that aren’t used as disposable. How often people touch their face when wearing one. You were quick to get overexcited earlier in the week about Fauci, but what about his comment about them just being a placebo and not having much impact? Or his leaked e-mails? Any evidence of countries/states where they’ve made a difference to cases?

    They also reduced social distancing. As soon as the mask mandate came in that 2m gap that was fairly respected suddenly disappeared.

    You’ve made some pretty wild comments in this thread. Overstated on masks and massively overstated on the importance and reach of the BBS.

    As an aside, I find masks horrible to wear, really uncomfortable, dirty, unhygienic, and at times like I’m struggling for air. I’ve worn one everywhere I’ve had to which is a lot of places across the world including lots of travel. It’s made me respect those who have to wear them for hours at a time even more so than I did already. Having an ‘I’m alright Jack’ brush off to people who don’t feel as easy as you is unfair and not very helpful.

    But you stated they make a significant difference and now you have contradicted yourself by basically saying its impossible to tell if they make a difference.....

    The reason they wear masks in Asian countries are two fold, pollution and hayfever.

    Ill set you a challenge. you find me a country or a state that has implemented a mask mandate and stopped Covid.

    Please feel free to cite either New Zealand or Australia whom both have been Covid free about a dozen times at least between them in the last few months.

    It's a difficult situation but it's best to get on with what you can do and make the best of things in my opinion, which can only be good for business compared to where we were recently.

    You're right there's a difference.
    You're wearing a seatbelt to protect you.
    You're wearing a mask to protect others (a bit like your servo assisted brakes, collapsible bonnet etc)

    That simply isn't true. It is accepted that masks play a big part in reducing transmission and at the very least reduce virus load, which influences how ill you become. Masks that are worn properly aren't unhygienic. Mine stays on and I don't touch it until I leave the indoor setting. It is then either washed or thrown away. The fact that some people are too stupid to use a mask correctly isn't evidence against them. They are effective in the right hands.

    Could you inform us all how seatbelts prevent those with hearing difficulties understand what people are saying? Or how they literally mask facial expressions making some much harder to read so effectively limiting our ability to understand and hindering interpersonal connection?

    In fact, could you highlight any downsides to seatbelt wearing that affect large proportions of the population?

    Our ability to communicate and form relationships is the cornerstone to society and masks are having a detrimental effect. Seatbelts don't hinder individuals or society in any measurable way.

    Do you honestly think you're putting forward a good argument? It certainly doesn't seem that way from here.

    it may be for you. People who suffer from fear of confined spaces may feel differently. I guess the stats for deaths per car journey are pretty tiny. Doesn’t stop you taking relevant precautions. For myself i hate wearing masks and as much as possible avoid places where I have to but the world doesn’t revolve around me. Hopefully it’ll change soon. Or people will have the choice with no judgement either way but if that change is delayed a bit so be it.

    Had a cracking Sunday lunch at Mill of the Black Monks, all tables full. Went to Rockingham Arms Thursday and George and Dragon Friday in Wentworth. Again full capacity didn't have to wait long.
    Basically other than wearing a mask a few times, no issue with overall experience.
