No I'm not. Don't tell me what I'm doing just because you disagree. You don't own the narrative.

That's not what I'm saying though, folk are concerned about this possible 3rd wave but to suggest they're wanting restrictions not to end is just rubbish, I believe we all want it to end asap, we may be talking at cross purposes here, I don't know.

Of course I don't. I'm just trying to get to who you think on here doesn't want to end the lockdown. And why?

It's not rubbish. You may disagree with my opinion and that's fine, that doesn't make my opinion rubbish. You are not right because you think you are.

So just to be clear, you believe they are folk on this BBS that want lockdown/restrictions not to end, at all?

As far as I'm aware there's no one on here that doesn't want lockdown to end at the right time. To want anything else would be absolutely stupid.
There's a few that never wanted it to start though.

I believe there are a number of people who post regularly on this BBS who believe restrictions should remain in place until we have zero Covid. As zero Covid is beyond our capabilities then yes, every post they've made since this began has been to promote restrictions on society that will last in to perpetuity.

For hospitals to catch up we need to fill the vacancies in the NHS.

I'm not the one that's sad for noticing it. Actually, I am, it makes me very sad.

There's nothing wrong with him believing that there are folk on here who don't want lockdown to end.

That however was not the statement that got everyone's knickers in a twist.

It was the statement that he could name at least half a dozen on here didn't want lockdown to end. It wasn't presented as a belief - it was presented as something he knew.

This has now been backtracked on, so we should all relax.

Rishi Sunak is willing to accept a delay of up to four weeks to the final stage of England’s reopening roadmap, the Guardian understands, as the government considers extending restrictions beyond 21 June.

Ministers will continue to scrutinise data on cases and hospitalisations over the coming days, with a final decision set to be announced by the prime minister on Monday. From 21 June nightclubs are due to reopen, with the cap on wedding numbers, large-scale events and indoor mixing lifted and guidance on working from home and mask-wearing dropped.

A delay in all these changes would infuriate many Conservative backbenchers. On Tuesday the former Tory minister Steve Baker pressed for the date dubbed “freedom day” to go ahead, calling it the “last chance” to save industries such as hospitality, which is calling for the 2-metre distancing rule to be scrapped.

The problem is that there is a huge pool of people who are not vaccinated yet, and while they won’t die in the same numbers as in previous waves due to their age some will still die. In the autumn wave there were 3386 cases in Bolton which led to 35 deaths, this time round the same number it is estimated will kill 9 people. So even though it’s a small proportion a small proportion of a lot of People is still enough to put a lot of people in hospital and kill a proportion of them- 25% of 150k is still nearly 40k extra deaths potentially. So until everyone over 12 is vaccinated it seems to me we should remain cautious.

I don’t think there’s people on here that want restrictions to never end, more a case of fearing of opening up too early leading to harsher and longer restrictions. So it’s possible that the best case scenario and worst case scenario both involve opening everything up on the 21st, just a case of if it proves to be the correct decision. So if they go with it, they’d better be sure.

I see your point but by that logic shouldn't we have restrictions permanently until everyone over 12 is vaccinated against influenza as that does needlessly kill people too and the statistics show that it kills people across a wider age range than covid meaning that vaccination for all ages is more important for that than for this
