I think there were other problems with Panesar. Fantastic spinner, though he did just do the same over and over, he didn't have the awareness of how to get a batsmen out of he didn't bowl an amazing delivery. And some of his fielding was the worst I've seen. But there was a documentary, "The Edge" about that period under Flower in particular where players were just broken, and I recall from that he had a lot of off field problems.
Can't think other test playing nation that Monty would have got to play 50 tests. The edge is a very good insight into test cricket under Andy flower. Johnathan Trott looked broken. Robin Smith has had major difficulties.
Broad and Anderson are unplayable at the moment but NZ are battling through it . Proper test match cricket with a brilliant crowd . Just love it .
Out of nick or not, he's been playing the line of the ball and not following it. We might miss a few more if we followed his technique.
It didn't look out from the live view. Wasn't shaping back in enough. But yes, pity they didn't carry on discussing it a few more seconds!
Aye always looked miles down leg. Fascinating period of play, fair play to NZ for digging in and getting through it. Lads like Ollie Pope could do a lot worse than learn off Ross Taylor.
What stands out is how much straighter the NZ batsmen play. Get behind the ball, play the line. Old school and effective.
