2 races, 2 losers. Standard fare for me on the flat. Thrown a couple of quid at King's Lynn here. Anyone done anything?
Coeur De Lion, is a massive price at 16/1 in the 5.00 at R A, won and been 2nd in this race last 2 years, stays forever 4/1 1st 4 like finding money in street,
Sadly it finished 6th just behind my fancy Cape Gentleman which was given far too much to do by Rachel Blackmore. Got Oxted at 4/1 (should have taken the price) and Lope Y Fernandez each way in the 1st but that was it for me. Loved the Teal family celebrations after the race as well as young Mr Fallons as Oxted passed the post. Judging by the weather forecast for later in the week could be a stack of non runners from Thurs onwards as most horses will have been declared with good to firm going as their preferred choice and it may well end up good to soft by Friday Selections today for what they're worth, all each way bar Love 2.30 Artos 3.05 Kemari 3.40 Champers Elysees 4.20 Love 5.00 Magical Morning 5.35 Dig Two 6.10 So I Told You So Good luck everyone
A little oddity for you. When the races are run over the straight mile if you look to the left of the racecourse itself at about the 6f pole you'll see a small football ground. This is Ascot United who I go to watch quite often as it's local, cheap and I don't lose as much money watching them as I do on the other side of the course They play in roughly the equivalent of a Worsborough Bridge league
Extravagant Kid, Lucky Vega and Elysian Flame placed for me yesterday so I made a tiny profit overall. Other 4 I picked did a Scott Wiseman and didn't turn up. Today's racing is a nightmare for punters overall I think. However, something will win and on the exchanges there are 7 places available on some races. So with that in mind I will be having very small bets on 2.30 Mas Poder 3.05 Arturo Toscanini 3.40 Parent's Prayer 5.00 Revich/Brunch 5.35 Flaming Rib 6.10 Ffion All with each way on maximum allowable place. If two place I'll get my money back. I think Love will win the 4.20 now that Lord North is out but the price is no good to me. Good luck to one and all. We'll need it today.
I'd second that. We now have final declarations up to and including Friday, and it's the trickiest-looking Royal Ascot meeting I can ever recall. The switch to seven races per day is not a positive move in my opinion, with the extra contests seeming to be mainly more huge insoluble handicaps.
Has there been much rain down your way? My strongest fancy today is Kemari in the 3.05, with speculative punts on Orinocco River in the 2.30 and Lavenders Blue in the 3.40. Good luck all
Sorry, got busy at work. No rain at all down here as yet though forecast to hit just before midnight tonight. They put 4mm on overnight just to take the sting out of it, though there was plenty of moisture in the air when I went to work at 5.30 this morning
Overnight rain was only just over 2mm so no change in the going as the storms missed us. Muggy morning but dry and only showers forecast so unless we get an unexpected downpour the going will be the same as yesterday 2 winners albeit 1 with a 15p rule 4 and 2 places yesterday so a bit of profit Todays selections 2.30 Nakatomi 3.5 Movin Time 3.40 Eshaada 4.20 Trueshan 5.0 Mithras 5.35 Sir William Bruce 6.10 Aldaary Will watch them in peace at 5am tomorrow before setting off to work , hence why no posts from me after 2.30 ish so there's no spoilers
Currently light rain near the course according to my good lady but nowt but a threat. I've done Trueshan hoping for softer going but they may take it out if they don't have significant rain
Only three favourites (all Timeform top-rated) from 14 races so far, and one of those at 2/7! Today looks equally as tricky to me, so I'll be content to just watch the action this afternoon. I'd be very keen on Flotus in the Albany Stakes tomorrow though. Have a look at this: Flotus dazzles on her two-year-old debut at Goodwood - Racing TV - YouTube Bet365 sticking out at 7/2 at the moment. She won her debut on soft, but being by Starspangledbanner should have no problems if the ground remains on the firmer side. It's a stronger race than Goodwood and there are other promising fillies in the race, but she has as much potential as any of them.
