i agree, it does seem to be happening faster but then we've had a fair amount of success in the last few years that has sparked interest. A few mid table finishes might slow it all down but then maybe we'd get bored. :)

    But that’d be mad.
If I’m selling my car, the advertised price is £10k and you come along and start by accepting £10k as the price but then say I’ll give you 5, why would I agree? It makes no sense whatsoever.

He’s not even ‘for sale’ someone has to compensate us to offer him a job, why would we just decide we didn’t want the money?

I'd imagine he'll have limited input on transfers. That's one of the reasons they didn't want Wilder, because he wanted more control over transfers.

Best of luck to him, and thanks for last season. I can't fault him at all, he'd be daft to turn that move down.

To be fair, there'd be no court battle as he'd still be in contract.

Good luck to Val, he did a cracking job here and I thank him for a wonderful season but we must move on. I trust the owner's have already identified his replacement.

It will be interesting to see how he goes next season with much more pressure and the expectation to deliver an instant return to the PL for WBA. If he doesn't get off to a good start then I can't see their fans being happy with the vertical football.

    Spanner thrown in the works

Could there be any truth in GS accusations.when he left..club not ambitious enough...strange big Val and DM are also allegedly jumping ship.....or could it be Conways had another wobbler and the lads have had enough....plus maybe the refusal to bring in any quality to have a other realistic push to go up

I don't think there is anything sinister in this, it just is what it is and off the back of a season where we finished way higher than what anyone thought, we were always likely to face the most pressure for our assets. Its just how the world works. Those who don't have much resource take risks lower down. They work, bigger fish eat them and so on.

The elephant in the room to this so called "strategy" (which it isn't, but I'll follow the term) is that at the first inkling of footballing success, it's unpicked because we can't afford the wages to reward people to stay here longer than short term.

That applies to first team players, youth players, footballing coaches, analysts, fitness coaches, assistants, CEO's and secretaries.

dunno. weird one. not sure how much 'bonding' there was with the fans, given the season was played behind closed doors. wouldn't be surprised if he got a bit of stick. not saying I condone that, but wouldn't surprise me if it did happen.

But so are the vast majority of others.

West Brom have someone who scored over 10 Premier League goals last season, and an England squad member. Neither of them will stick around to play Blackpool and Millwall next season.

It's just how it goes. We plunder AFC Wimbledon, MK Dons, and when Burton had a goalkeeper on loan that they liked, we took him.

West Brom do it to us, and someone will do it to West Brom. Unless we get limitless blood money from some dodgy billionaire, it will ever be thus. It's always happened to us, with these owners, and long before they arrived, too.

Yeah I know, I'm fully ok with it too. It sucks that we don't seem to be able to hang on to our best talent, but thats just how this system works.

I’d say we’d do well to keep our best talents under any system imo .
Even Brentford were compelled to sell theirs at the end of the season below the Prem .
As long as we get the maximum we can for them then that’s as much as we can do untill we’re in the prem and then we’d only have to sell our exceptionally best talents .
