Not in my case. He's a pretty good manager, and plays the shíthouse football that our squad is used to. I'd definitely have him, for the sake of continuity.

Ainsworth took over Wycombe 23rd in League 2.

He got them promoted to the Championship for the first time.

That promotion was with the 2nd lowest budget in League 1.

Last season 1 point off staying up with resources that made Rotherham look rich.

I dont understand how he cant be seen as anything but excellent.

There has to be some reason why Baggies were turned down, or themselves turned down some seemingly sound candidates in Wilder, Appleton, Wagner. I hope that VI has been on the phone to one or two of these before making his mind up. Nowhere does it yet say that he has been, or is being interviewed for the post. The only news is that there has been discussion between the clubs regarding compensation and allowing Baggies to talk to VI - nothing more.

Bit depressed about this, but I suppose that's the life of a Reds Fan.

Previously, I would have lost my swede and ranted about the board but I've long since realised that this is their method of running our football club and they won't change it because someone moans on a message board.

Hopefully the replacement hits the ground running and we have another season with more wins than losses.

I think we have bought into the philosophy now, manager goes, we accept & move on, we are making more on compo that the majority of clubs are for transfers too!

Gareth Southgate would have us passing backwards sideways in our own half exact opposite to val.

Hardly surprising our best season in 21 years we were 4th bottom when he took over didn't even have a full season in charge and worked wonders. Just be nice to keep hold of him for another season he signed a 3 year contract with us (I know there was a release clause) but anyway were used to it by now. Dane to forest? Mowatt to west brom?

Fair enough - we're too southern, then.

Whatever we have to be, that he doesn't apply for the job, is alright with me.

He has a big house near Swinsty Reservoir, between Harrogate & Otley.

Most of our lads now have 2 years at this level, and they've come on leaps on bounds.
Should Val agree terms then I'm sure there will be plenty applying for the post.

Names like Bothroyd and Keane will no doubt be mentioned but there's plenty of good coaches out there.
We can still evolve a style of play that's based on last year's low risk, high energy, high reward style.

I'd imagine managers like Duff at Cheltenham will be looked at. Young domestic coach who played with a back 3 and wing backs who likes to attack the box. A good communicator and played at a high level.
It won't be any manager's who spoke out publicly about our winning style. So Mr Neil no point applying, backhanded praise and sniggers have been noted and you're on a very different list with Mr Conway.

Yep he's now a Yorkshireman, he loves living here. Still got tactics wrong on Friday but I'll cut him some slack.

I think quite a few said it at the time, once we got to the play offs, if we wanted to keep things together, we had to win.

We didn't, so it's not surprising to see Ismael be attracted somewhere that pays more than we can afford. Just a pity we're facing a mini exodus all at the same time. I'd rather lose a CEO outside of the transfer window. But it probably is the best time to lose a coach as long as you get a quick replacement.

It's bigger than Dave Balfe's house and comes with 5 acres of woodland.
