Anyone still invested enough to take a punt now Chilwell and Mount are out?

    I'm going for:

    Pickford
    Walker, Stones, Mings, Shaw
    Rice, Phillips, Bellingham
    Sancho, Kane, Foden

Not what i would pick, just what I think Southgate will do.

Looks far too attacking for Southgate!

Wouldn't surprise me if he picked a midfield three of Rice, Phillips and Henderson.

Doesn't matter which personnel are on the pitch, it's the tactics we invoke that need a rocket up their proverbials!

    I'll be watching Scotland.
At least they have to win whereas England will probably have me in a stupor of sheer boredom.

Stop the Coufel, Soucek and Schick threat and we'll win. Rice to do a man marking job on Soucek and Trippier at left back again to stop the cross.
They've got 2 sloppy centre halves so we need to press em high so for me get Bellingham in midfield and front 4 of Grealish, Sterling, Kane and Sancho.
If he starts Phillips tonight then we're doomed. We need to perform tonight and have teams second guessing our approach going into the knock out phase. Wonder how far off Henderson is? We miss him massively.

Apparently there has been a leak and Grealish is starting, as is Saka

Saka down the left is extremely good, does that mean 3 at the back with Coady in the Sweeper role? Saka at wing back is a good call. Not sure what Chilwell's done wrong, I know he can't play tonight but he's been great all season.

Can’t wait to watch Philips making 30 yard backwards passes in fear of us thinking about trying to get into the opponent’s half.

I do like Saka, he attacks the byline and could provide Kane with more to go on. Fingers crossed this is true. One of best players in tournament so far is Dumfries and Saka is loads better than him with and without the ball.

I wouldn't like to second guess Southgate these days but I don't think you need to tinker too much with what has made us difficult to beat. We're criminally short of width and urgency, and you won't necessarily get that just by changing the personel.

    Pickford
    Tripps Stones Mings Shaw
    Foden Rice Bellingham
    Sancho Grealish
    Kane

Add in Henderson and Maguire when / if fit, for Bellingham and Mings and that would have been my ideal line up.

Common sense suggests Rashford will start. Somebody has to get the goals..?

That's what I'd go for, but for some reason Southgate seems to think it's a case of either / or with Grealish and Foden.

He's only effective down the left, Foden outplayed him this season on the left and Grealish likes to roam initially engaging play from the left. Same goes for Sterling, that's why we've got to with Sancho and Foden out side. Pace, tricks, ball retention and goals. Grealish pulling the strings and Bellingham being a box to box midfielder.
