As has been eluded to on another thread, the next appointment, assuming the Ismael move to West Brom completes this week, will not be able to be done as the last few have. The last three have all worked out pretty brilliantly - but we can’t shop in the same market. Losing VI could be a monumental disaster. None of the last four managerial appointments would have been possible under the current post-brexit rules. So where (and how) do they look to bring in a new head coach, and back room staff? I’ve a horrible feeling it will be a left-field appointment of somebody already in this country, just out of the necessity of meeting the new visa rules. Possibly another one of the also-rans who take their mediocrity from club to club. The majority, nearly 70% of those who voted as I recall, of the people of Barnsley - and so I would imagine the majority of Barnsley football club fans - voted for this. So remember that before you moan if we appoint someone in the mould of Steve Parkin or Keith Hill - or some random who’s never been more than a number two or assistant coach, maybe not even at championship level. Make no mistake, the reason West Brom have turned to this direction is due to the difficulty getting someone in from abroad, Ismael qualified as he already works here. Add in the fact we will probably lose Mowatt, (and possibly Dane Murphy), the whole leadership team has been completely ripped apart. And that is before any bids for any of the other players come in, which may happen and might well be accepted. We can only wait and see. I didn’t expect another playoff push this coming season to be honest, but my worry now is how far we might fall. I don’t buy into all this ‘we’ll be reight’ talk. This summer could have a bigger detrimental effect than January 2017.
There’s still plenty of options overseas for us. They have to have managed for two consecutive seasons, or three of the last five seasons in any of the top five bands. The top five bands include most of the top divisions across Europe.
I don't claim to understand the rules but you can go outside the EU, look at Blades, they got a well known manager who was coaching in Asia. I think if Dane was staying we might have gone for a yank coach who plays the German style (like their national setup does). But Dane is going, so that makes it down to the owners, they've always pushed that they want a pressing German style coach, are there any outside Europe who stand out?
But it doesn't include Austria (recent coachs), German youth teams (one before that) etc. Means we can't sign Oostedes manager as outside top 5 leagues. Etc.
No clue who will be next bookies not even got a list together yet but it is a concern. I dont want an experienced out of work dinosaur like a Pulis or Holloway. but donr have any names in mind that are realistic
How does it work for top leagues outside Europe - could we get a Brazillian or a Egyptian coach for example and does the MLS count as a top league?
The Oostende manager doesn’t qualify because he’s only been in management for a year, nothing to do with the Belgian league. The Belgian league and Austrian league are both in the top five bands for work permits.
You’d like to think part of the reason for delaying the announcement was due to us lining up a replacement, but who knows. Wouldn’t be surprised to see someone like Devaney stepping in.

Well as Dane eluded to. Once we were away from danger last year, and became challengers. He noted that players who had previously nocked us back either got in touch or made known they misjudged us and made a mistake. We've just finished 5th in the championship for christ sake. If that doesn't attract a higher callabre of manager, I don't know what will. We might have some real choice this time, maybe
Mido, whoa, oh-oh-oh He's for the money, he's for the show Mido’s a-waitin' for the go Mido, whoa, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh He said, "One more job oughta get it One last shot 'fore we quit it One more for the Ponte road"
I'll start by naming a couple Jimmy Floyd Hasslebank (Burton) Michael Appleton Or outside the box what about a woman coach Emman Hayes current manager of Chelsea
Also if we only employ a head coach, does that mean someone can come if they are a coach, not a "manager" per se, so long as they are in the top 5 bands?
If we dont lose more we'll be fine. I trust the spreadsheet to get the right head coach even if we cant get another passionate German/austrian influenced guy. Mowatt is not Hourihane, lets be honest. And Im not saying he isnt excellent.
No idea who we'll get but ah do kno al soon be climbing them steps to East Upper to my little bit of Oakwell. ther may not be Val. Dane or Alex anymore but ther will be old George. Bill. Mary and a load of others who ah only kno by the 1st name from footy...point is Managers and players come and go but we are the club and we'll be here. can't wait....
