So, do England have to play one of these proper football nations.?

On 0 mins, England vs Germany
On 11 mins, England vs Hungary
On 30 mins, England vs France
On 45 mins, England vs Hungary
On 66 mins, England vs Germany
On 68 mins, England vs Portugal
On 84 mins, England vs Germany

    Germany it is then.

Why do the stars always seem to align such that we get knocked out of competitions by Germany?

I was (un)fortunate enough to catch the last 10 minutes of the Portugal France game last night on RAI TV. I don't know what went on before )although the media pundits appeared to describe it as "thrilling").
Sadly, by the time I switched on both sides knew that a draw would see them both through so tippy tappy play with passing the ball sideways in their own third and back and forth to the goalkeeper ensued (mainly Portugal in possession) with France 'standing off' making no attempt to press with the odd long ball chase by Portugal or France to make it look like they wanted to score but with no real intent at the end of the move. (Think of England on mogadon -yes it was really that bad!) Understandable and in the days of social media, cellphones etc. news blackouts in the stadia are impossible so teams are bound to find out the other scores affecting them so there is probably no way to prevent it.
There was quite a lot of booing and whistling from the fans during those last 10 minutes albeit that may have been the norm for each set of fans when the opposition had the ball.
Neverthless it was embarrassing to watch and, for paying fans, (and anyone watching including myself) it was 10 minutes- plus the 5 minutes extra indicated - (of their lives they can never get back). At least I was able to switch off before the end. I have no idea of what can be done to stop it...almost certainly nothing, but the 'beautiful game' it was not ! It reminded me of the last few minutes of Superbowl gridiron when the clock is counting down and one side has an unassailable lead and the cameras spend most of their time watching the celebrations on the sidelines rather than what is going on on the field of play.

I know worst has happened over the years e.g. t he "Disgrace of Gijón" - the name given to a 1982 FIFA World Cup football match played between West Germany and Austria.

What are your views on the last 10 minutes of our 2-2 draw at Huddersfield in May 2013?

I fancy our chances of ending the international managerial career of the finger sniffer.

    Not the hardest route:

    R16: Germany

    QF: Sweden/Ukraine

    SF: Wales/Denmark/Netherlands/Czechs

I agree but its not really that important, I dont see us getting past Germany next week Historically in competitions we always go out on Penalties
