No, what I'm saying is the UK is merely reminding Putin that we can also play games just as he does

But even then, why? Perhaps, to a smaller extent I can understand if it is a NATO exercise, but if we ‘re acting independently on this, then no not at all.

It answered the original question, as you have yourself pointed out in post#41.

It's things like this and the efforts to be macho against another nation that just fills me with despair.

If you look at the wider and biggest issues our civilisation is faced with, we need to consume, pollute and waste less.

Yet we've this going on. Air fuel wasted, Seas polluted. Ammunition discharged into the sea. Marine life distressed and maybe killed.

For what? For two nations to play silly buggers and spin it to their populist followers.

While ever such macho folly continues, this planet and its biodiversity have absolutely no chance.

Unfortunately, that’s exactly what it sounds like, except a very expensive and dangerous ‘ner’

Supposedly a legal shipping lane according to the world, just not to Russia, just another case of them trying to Bully folk ( which is how they got most of it to start with)
Russia have been pushing their luck in our waters and airspace for years, nobody seemed to care about that

If it did, which it didn’t fully, although there were some good points made, it is something you failed to achieve, oops nearly forgot Comrade.

Yeah, but we can now sing a new patriotic song, wave our flags, and hang photos of the Monarchy.

Anyone would think the reaction from both parties is staged.
Allows both Johnson and Putin to play the hard men and bury bad news.
Johnson the other day literally talked about dead cats and dogs (used for food). All whilst other scandals were breaking.
The use of our armed services is the ultimate dead cat story. This kind of crap happens daily, this time it had a bit more pomp and theatre attached to it.

Who says we don’t care? I certainly do, and I care how we respond to it.

I've mentioned this before. This governments use of words previously associated with negative stories to bump things down the search engines is disgusting.

    Red buses.
    Models

    Now dead cats.

We've an idiot in charge with the attention span of a gnat who finds everything a jolly old jape, apart from the serious stuff which he zones out of and hides from, oh, and any opportunity to line the pockets of his backers, to hopefully get some of that once he resigns.

I fully support the route taken by our Navy, as instructed by our Government.

They were in international waters, within a legal and recognised shipping Lane.

You can’t let Russia be the bully - you have to stand upto them. Only us and the USA can do that, USA less so.

Russia deep down know that - hence why they didn’t directly take any major action. We’ve taken enough crap off Russia over the years with incursions into our airspace and the poisoning incidents.

Look when Turkey shot down a Russian plane in 2015. The Russian aircraft refused to alter course, and was shot down. Russia didn’t retaliate, as they knew they were in the wrong, and didn’t want to start anything off. They don’t talk as much these days - that was the basic outcome.

It’s a calculated risk - exactly the same Russia do when testing us. But you have to stand upto bullies.

The Russians are doing exactly what they've done for 150 years. In the mid nineteenth century their policy in central asia was one of "granny steps". They'd break a treaty, annexe a small piece of territory, push the envelope but never enough to risk the response being war. So they'd keep calling the bluff of, at the time Britain, knowing their little gains would go unpunished.
They still do it, without being challenged on it they will continue to do so.
I'm no defender of the US. They are almost as guilty and have a horrendous record of subverting or outright overthrowing elected governments they don't like. they're currently continuing to do it in Cuba. However, in western democracies there are opposition parties, elections aren't rigged and the press are allowed to be independent. For all the fact that the US and the UK are currently basket cases we haven't yet approached the levels of disgusting belligerence that Putin employs. Allow him and the Chinese to go unchecked and we'll end up like Hong Kong eventually.
