The destroyer in the Black Sea isn't warmongering.

It’s part of the culture war.
Designed precisely so that ‘we’ have to say it’s stupid, thereby marking us out as hating the country, so it gives the nationalists a target.

Nothing more or less. Pathetic, but it works.

What is it then and why should we not be patriotic for not supporting it ?
There’s no reason other than Willy waving at Russia .
I get that Russia’s in the wrong with Crimea and international waters etc but it should be a United Nations or NATO alliance to show support for Ukraine .
Plus the fact there’s always an ulterior motive when Boris does something of this nature , it doesn’t benefit us to go it alone and even Blair secured allies before Kosovo .
I just don’t see anything unpatriotic in questioning why tbh .

I think that this is entirely separate to all the portrait of the Queen stuff. It's just foreign policy/diplomacy, whatever you want to call it and what the UK has been doing in response to Russian expansion/provocation for decades.
What's the alternative? Sit back and let them do what they like? It's hardly a declaration of war..just a reminder that international waters are just that. And don't forget this wasn't just a British exercise.
I'm all for calling out the Tories for their appalling acts and you know I am. But let's not class every single thing they do as being in the same framework. Sending signals of this sort for Russia has been going on since the 1940s. Putin's and China's disgusting anti democratic, human rights violations need calling out too.

Would we actually notice a difference if she didn't?
True, there would be far less sh**e in the media about what the latest spat was all about between Wills and Megs and Harry. Maybe they could fill the gaps with something intelligent.

Just more culture war nonsense. Like making kids sing that stupid song, nobody actually thinks this is a good idea. It's all just bait so they can get people riled up about it and then subliminally paint them as unpatriotic in the minds of pensioners.

Narcisistice; she's already on every stamp, coin and banknote. Is this where the term royalties comes from?

This government aren’t serious about Russia, but they are serious about making you believe they’re serious about Russia.

They actively made a decision to not investigate suspected Russian interference in our electoral process. Offered no explanation for that, then sent a lawyer into court to suggest that foreign interference wasn’t any more serious than a politically motivated radio DJ.

But why Crimea who we have no affiliation to but leave Hong Kong with British citizens and interests to just words on condemnation ?
As I said in my post I get they are in the wrong but we are going it alone here and I’m not comfortable with that .
If it irks our ministers so much why aren’t they urging the aforementioned world bodies to take the action we did ?
If we took action on the more serious crimes these nations are bestowing like barrel bombing women and children in the Middle East or ethnic cleansing in China ,
We expelled a couple of Russian diplomats for killing our citizens in our country nothing more was called for we didn’t send warships to Crimea then
All I’m saying is we should be working with allies on this and I don’t mean nodding dogs approving of our actions but doing nothing themselves .

I agree. Boris isn't serious about anything other than himself. He may well try to jump on the back of the Crimea thing but I'd hope he has little say and that it's a NATO/UN inspired thing. Just because Boris is involved doesn't mean that signals shouldn't be sent to the Russians. You'd hope that things actually tick on in the background despite Johnson similar to how they did with Trump. I agree he'll try and play politics with it though.

It's a joint exercise isn't it? Wasn't there a Dutch ship and a US ship also involved?
I agree about Hong Kong. It's heartbreaking to see that place slide into autocracy. We seem to be more on our own in responding to that and there's little we can do I'm afraid. The little Englanders that are hugging flags after brexit may not want to know that, as a world power we're a rung further down the ladder now.

He's done a piece to camera (like he does with only pre scripted questions) doing a bit of tubthumping and saying they didn't recognise they were Russian waters.

    Stinks to high heaven.

It as far as I know it was on another exercise and was ordered to veer off to make the course it took .
It comes to something when you know the Government are capable of lying and cheating the nation whilst using its resources to benefit them .
If Hancock can use his influence in a national crisis with people’s lives to secure his sister an undeliverable PPE contract then they are fair game for the worst conspiracies IMO .

I've not got links to it, but it's worth doing a little search and seeing the Russian clique that surrounds Johnson. He was a regular visitor to Evgeny Lebedevs varying properties, including in Italy and allegedly, he was the first person he visited once he got elected. Lebedev (who owns evening standard and holdings in the independent) just happens to have been made a peer by DePfeffel.

Lebedevs father is Alexander, an oligarch, who just happened to be in the kgb.

There have been a host of networks and clubs that Johnson, his aides and his now wife have supposedly been involved in. There has also been significant donations to the tory party from Russian sources, alleged to be in excess of £3.5m since 2010.

    All very murky.
