It’s a results business and he got results and fair play to him. Thanks Val, but I can’t wish you good luck!
He was paid to do a job and did it. No more no less. I don't wish him well, he's now the competition and the opposition as far as I'm concerned. On to the next.
Unfortunately some people won't give him any credit due to the style of football he played. Same people would be moaning if we were playing a possession based game, conceding daft goals every game and down at the bottom of the table. Basically some on here will moan whatever the situation!
OK. It's just when you said he was paid to do a job he could have kept us up without getting to the playoffs.
What desperately sad news. I quite liked both Stendel and Struber but big Val was the real deal, he will be sorely missed. I just hope we can come back fighting.
Of course he could have. And he would have still probably been with us. Huge personal incentive for him to succeed, as we've just seen. Let's not kid ourselves into thinking his effort and drive was through some affinity to Barnsley FC. It wasn't. It was personal and professional ambition to succeed. Absolutely fine with that. He owes us nothing and vice versa. I appreciate I'm probably coming across as hyper-cynical, but that's just how I see it now. The next manager will be the same. He'll get my full support until he's either poached or sacked.
