Not unexpected. No room for sentiment in football. Hoped for AM to stay but it was always a possibility on VA moving to WBA.

Have a feeling Woodrow could also go there.

Yup, totally agree. If he was going to sign, he would have done already.

Possibly not announced yet as he has until Wednesday until his contract expires.

If he was going to sign he would have before we activated his one year extension. There has always been an excuse as to why he hasn't extended himself (covid, change of coaches, concentrating on this season etc) to drag it out the best part of eighteen months.

I may be alone on this but I'm honestly not that bothered. Yes he scores the odd 'worldie' but he sticks way too many into the stands. How many time have we heard the commentators say this is in Mowatts range and then....nothing.

Steady player but not as good as Hourihane. It is true he could have signed ages ago if he wanted to stay but obvious he wanted to cash in whilst he can. If I have one critism of VI,in the second half of the season the midfield was bypassed in favour of route one. So Mowatt ,Styles and to a certain degree Woodrow were playing catchup. However the results spoke for themselves.

He was always leaving. I’m not annoyed at him for potentially going there or at Val for taking him.

Struggling to think of a player who’s put 3 years back to back as good as he has for us. He’s been incredible & barely misses a game.

I fear that a lot of people who don’t think he’s a big miss are going to be eating their words.

    Its a fair assumption.

Alex has been running down his contract. It would have been done by now if he was staying IMO

However, if WBA are going to be the ones who rip our team to pieces, then anything they come in with, use our valuation and double it. Make the ******** pay.

    I used to like WBA

As is generally the norm when a player leaves us, loads of our fans are all “he wasn’t that good anyway”.

I agree, the consistent 3 years he’s put in puts him right up there in recent times for me. Captained us out of league 1 into the championship playoffs.

People keep posting this as if it’s obvious.
We missed the opportunity to extend his contract, but it doesn’t automatically follow that he’ll leave.
And this makes even less sense; he’s a free agent, how do we make them pay anything?

We've been talking to him for at least 12 months if you go through updates from Dane.

And I was referring to other players mentioned by other posters. Ie if they come for the likes of helik and styles

I haven't changed my tune on this.

I would rather he stayed (certainly don't want to lose him to a direct competitor), but he's not even our best midfielder in my opinion.

Between Styles, Kane, Oduor and Palmer and with Wolfe coming through, we've got enough in the tank. Maybe even Thomas might come good with a change of manager too?

Well they won't be paying anything for Moet, so take the £0, double it, and it will still be zero :)
