Just wanted to share some information I received about Wilder. At Sheff Utd he was on £80k a week and if relegated, that would reduce to £60k a week. He left Utd because the Prince was only offering Wilder 1% of his remaining contract. He then had talks with WBA and wanted £45k a week but WBA were only willing to pay their new Manager £20k a week ( think that’s why Ismael was then approached. ) So as much as Wilder would be a great choice, he simply is not a realistic target.
I'm no expert, but I find it hard to believe that any manager (with maybe the odd exception) is on over £20k a week. I could be wide of the mark like, but I wouldn't have thought they were on more than most, or all of their players.
Wilder was in discussion with Utd board about the best way to leave the club. Wilder wanted his full contract paying but the Prince only offered 1% so Wilder resigned and I believe it’s still an ongoing matter.
This backs that up, saying average is around £16k in Championship, but that must be inflated as it claims one is on over £3 million.https://www.888sport.com/blog/football/league-one-salary#League One Manager Salary
I think if we offer him £150 a week , a former council house in Parsons Green and a two year supply of Henderson’s Relish , we’ll get him
Any in the championship? I think Bielsa was reportedly on 50k a week & then there will be managers like Rafa when he came down with Newcastle still on a huge wage but most probably aren’t.
Bearing in mind our last four managerial appointments, I can’t believe some people are even suggesting Wilder as an option. Not to mention he’d be well above our pay grade, and is more of a ‘manager’ than a Head Coach that we’re looking for.
It's always struck me as odd that managers are on such relatively paltry contracts compared to players, especially the good ones. That's not to say they arent well paid, but clubs seem to let them go for much less they would a quality player.
Its to do with resale value. A amanager can pretty much do one and go somewhere else for next to nowt. Conversely if a manager does shįt then the club can get shut without a huge payout, which it would be if they are on players wages.
I'm no expert on Brexit but I think that may have an impact on who we appoint and from where. As for Wilder.. love him here but way out of our league.. no chance
That's quite a low wage for a club of their size. He though,as always struck me as someone who is not driven by the money but the job.
If we wanted Wilder I think we have a chance, never underestimate the pull of being close to family and friends
