When these 2 islands are given the go ahead on Wednesday do you think they will be busy straight away or do you think people will still be cautious?

I’m looking at going at the end of July for a week.

Will any of you be departing or still cautious as to what’s around the corner?

Personally, I’d go ASAP if you have the chance; the longer it’s open, the more people will go and the more chance that either our rules will change or theirs will.

Touch wood we have 2 Greek Island holidays booked. Both Amber but both avoiding the government’s ‘do not travel’ lists.

It's going to be carnage at the airports that's all I know. I'm expecting the very people going will be complaining about the extremely long waits at both borders. There's only so many immigration desks you can fit in an arrivals hall.
Just hope they don't bring back any more variants along with their bottle of sangria, 200 cigs and sunburn.

I'm not booking anywhere abroad until global levels are close to zero. I can have a good holiday in this country in the meantime, might be a while but me and the Mrs are fine with that.

Rammed from the start. After being in a mess for 15 months people will not want to wait another day.

I'm sure all the British Airways staff on furlough will be glad when these travel rules are eventually relaxed and they can get back to work and there industry back on its feet. Sorry to break it to you but new variants will keep happening the virus is here to stay.

Viruses mutate, always have done. Hoping that people won't bring them back is like hoping it won't go dark tonight

Should have been in Dubrovnik since Thursday. Having to make do with a week in the Lakes from tomorrow in a lodge (a big shed with windows). Just looking forward to going somewhere now, anywhere, so going to have a good time, but wish I was in Croatia.

Judging on amount of people I know went to Portugal, I’d say people will jump on it as soon as they open.

We’re waiting a few weeks. Hoping more will be added to the list, and rules will change for those who have been double jabbed going to amber countries.

Still cautious. Much as I'd love some sun I've written off going abroad this year.

Is it the flight that makes you wary?

The whole thing, queues at airports with Brexit, what will/ won't be open, govt changing its mind on restrictions mid holiday etc etc. I've had my vaccinations, I'm not worried about the virus so much.

That's the biggest concern for me, the change in status of the country while we are away. I could cope with a destination going from green to amber. Its amber to red that would ruin everything because there is no chance I am staying in a govt selected hotel for 11 days and paying nearly 2 grand each for the privilege so there would be no choice but to abandon the holiday and rush home.

I would still love a foreign break this year and have moved some of my holidays to September. Missus is more cautious. It is likely to need to be somewhere that is green for the above reasons but it is hard because when it is confirmed green the prices double. So I might have to take a punt on somewhere currently amber and hope for the best. Worse case is that it becomes another deferred holiday. At this rate Tui will have thousands of my money in abeyance. They have already had the Croatia holiday money since 2019.
