Well, I have a clear conscience as it’s absolutely crystal clear from the empirical evidence that those European countries with the strictest lockdowns have seen the highest proportions of Covid hospitalisations and deaths - and that’s before you take into account the non Covid deaths we have lined up which will be felt for a generation, the children who’s physical and sexual abuse has gone on unseen for 18 months and the misery of those families prevented from seeing now dead loved ones for the last year of their lives.

How dare you have the absolute nerve to imply that those who correctly opposed lockdown from the start - whilst still conforming to the ******** measures - somehow have blood on their hands. You don’t even have an argument anymore based in any sort of science or empirical evidence, so you resort back to emotional blackmailing tactics. Shame on you.

 

I'll be welcoming guests to an airbnb today. I'll be wearing a mask out of consideration for those in the party who may not have been vaccinated.
I'll continue to do that throughout the summer until such time as everyone has had an opportunity to be vaccinated.

I only wear a mask to please other people, sometimes I forget & it doesn’t bother me, I’ll not go home specifically to get one if I forgot it. They’re a waste of time anyway, especially after hearing what infection control at work had to say about them.

 

I should hope so with lock down apparently ending end of July, if people still feel unsafe attending games watch on ifollow

I wear a mask because of 'the rules', my partner doesn't because she is exempt. The amount of times we've been stopped despite her wearing a lanyard and badge to show she is exempt is silly. She also gets funny looks in the supermarket, which are demeaning and not helpful. I wear my mask, it makes me feel crappy, i wonder what it's doing to my oral health (breathing in my own carbon dioxide) and my anxiety is sometimes really bad with it on (even after only a few minutes). I don't judge anyone for not wearing one. That's what annoys me the most I think, those that wear one because of government guidelines 'for the good of everyone else', while they judge those that don't wear one without knowing or trying to understand the reasons why i.e. the mask police. You also, of course, get those that say 'well I wear mine 10 hours a day, just grin and bear it'. These people have no empathy with those that genuinely struggle to wear them, or can't. Despite wearing one i seriously question what good they do.

 

The point I was trying to make with my question was.....

July 18th: Someone is not wearing a mask in a shop even though they should be would make some people mad as that person isn't following the rules.

July 19th: Someone is not wearing a mask in a shop because they no longer have to by law and people don't mind with what that person is doing because they no longer have to.

So people don't like those who break the rules because the government say you shouldn't do it, but as soon as the government say you no longer have to it's fine. Like the government know best.

 

Good post and I've seen many on here "well I don't mind wearing them" well my partner wears then 12 hours a day" ill be honest I've had enough of them after a hour and abit of doing big shop towards the end I start to feel unwell and on one occasion had to take it off I wear them to please others as soon as restrictions are lifted there off in bin.

 

Yes I think many holier-than-thou would be like that. They would also whip off their mask without any hesitation at the first government prompt, as they would likely feel narked if suddenly everyone was seemingly mask-free and they wouldn't want to miss out on breathing fresh air again.

To be clear, i also think there is a marked difference between, for example, a surgeon wearing a mask to perform open surgery, and Debbie nipping down to Asda's for 20 benson's. I would still want the surgeon to wear a mask, as that is a sensible idea.

 

From a personal perspective, I'd rather not wear a mask, but I do. I'd rather others wore them, but I have no control over that.

The government of the day have the ability to write our laws. Even if those laws are ridiculous, unworkable, corrupt and self centred. But if its law to wear a mask in certain environments, I'd prefer that people abide by those laws and I would do personally.

Once the laws are repealed, it will become personal preference and choice. Some will still wear them, some won't.

All that I ask people who don't is to please respect those who do. Maybe give them a little room and just be mindful there may well be reasons you aren't aware of for them needing to distance and wear a mask still.

They are just trying to live their lives in the best way they are able.

 

Same here mate, I think they're genuinely not helping. To be honest the main reason I wear mine now is if me and my girlfriend both walked into a supermarket without a mask we would be more likely to be turned away (people would probably think 'oh how irresponsible, they both don't care'), and it's not worth the aggro. If one of us is wearing one and the other has the lanyard we don't end up in a YOU SHALL NOT PASS situation (we just occasionally get the funny looks, or questioned). It's madness but it's the way things (people) are. It's stressful enough going for basic supplies as it is, don't want to risk getting turned away at the door like a couple of petty criminals.

 

I concur, I'd also ask those people who do wear a mask to please respect those who don't. The announcements in shops state masks must be worn unless exempt - the exemption shouldn't be questioned in my opinion, we are asking for basic human understanding.

 

I don't disagree with that sentiment. Sadly, while law, we have had people who weren't exempt and have just decided they won't wear it.

We're shifting to a phase now where as all restrictions are lifted, we have to get our head round the fact the whole population is likely to get this virus.

The problem for some is that once infection is hugely prevalent, it will be unbelievably difficult not to become infected and irrespective of two vaccines, it will kill them.

 

Listen mate I don't give a toss if you smoke yourself to blazes, run your car into a wall, drink yourself into alcoholism. Your choice other than the strain you put on the NHS.
What I do care about is you being so cavalier about other people's safety.
But keep posting the stupid, trite comments.
