Listening to the guys from "the other Bundesliga" on Football Heaven - 4-2-3-1 he likes to play out from the back - Goalkeeper has to be able to pass, the 2 holding midfielders are relied on to break the opposition press, he plays 3 attacking midfielders with a lot of width - so I would expect the right and left sides to be like inside forwards. He plays attacking football - its more about outscoring the opposition then stopping them from scoring - that could be quite difficult as a lot of teams set up simply not to lose when they play away, even when they come to "teams like Barnsley" - lost count of the number of games we generally lose at home by the odd goal after 90 minutes of spoiling tactics by supposedly superior opposiion.
There's a happy medium somewhere, there must be. I liked the change of pace that Vals "Vertical Football" offered to begin with but I think most of us would admit that it became less "direct football" and more "aimless punt" as the season wore on. But for the love of God I hope we don't start with crab football playing it out from the back. For all but the best teams it doesn't work and it's invariably boring.
