What Southgate needs to do and will do are two different things. He's convinced we need Ambrosia Rice and the Pineapple Express in the middle and full backs have better shots and are better crossers of the ball than wingers and attacking players. While ever that's the case we're on a hiding to nothing.
Apparently England have had the fewest shots and scored the least goals of any team at the Euro's. If they are going to go 3-4-3, wouldn't it be better to have players with pace and power? A front 3 of Sterling, Calvert Lewin and Rashford and get the ball forward quickly. His mistake in his squad selection of not choosing, Ward-prowse,Bamford and Watkins, is hindering his options. Too many players to try and not concede, not enough to create and score. However, there have been winners of the tournament who scored very few goals, Greece, springs to mind. Perhaps England will wear other teams down with their brand of 1970s ,east european football. Disclaimer, as I know nothing about football, it will be 5-4 England, a late winner deflected off Kyle Walker's bottom, in extra time.
WEMBLEY TICKETS.... England v Germany Tuesday 29th June 2021 Kick Off 5pm One of my mates has tickets in a corporate box for the England v Germany game. He paid £300 each, but he didn't realise when he bought them that it was going to be the same day as his wedding. If you are interested, he is looking for someone to take his place. It's at Guildford Registry Office, at 3.30pm. The bride's name is Sharon, she's 5'4", about 8 stone, quite pretty, has her own income and is a really good cook.
Terrible starting XI. Where's the guile or creativity in midfield??? They lose this, Southgate will walk.
Not sure why everyone sees this a negative system. It certainly wasn't when Ismael was playing it. That being said, I'm yet to watch the match...
I disagree with the way we’re setting up & would’ve gone 4-3-3 with Foden in my midfield 3 & Saka & Sterling either side of Kane but one thing I’ll say is Southgate’s putting his balls on the line & at least he’s doing things his way. If it all goes wrong it won’t be because he succumbed to fan & media pressure. If we lose after he’s changed the formation & not played many creative players the pressure that will come from fans & the media will make his job untenable & he will have to be sacked. If we’d lost an entertaining game with Grealish & Foden starting he might have kept some support off the fans & media, if this goes wrong he’s in for it.
I'm not surprised at the lineup just dismayed, Southgate has no positivity at all, if England can somehow get through the 1st half level and the players gag him and tie him up and deposit him in a cupboard somewhere and pick a side between themselves, we might nick it.
Yep, celebrating the failure of our national team and holding it up as some sort of achievement grates on me. We were at home and failed.
Better be on equal terms at half time of not we're done. Mount showed in Croatia game he's able to do the naughty stuff well and retain possession why not start him? He's had a week off..
He's going to make 5 subs at half time including the whole front 3 and were going to press them to death...
