Exactly mate! The traditional high street no longer exists - all these complaining about how it looks go and do their shopping at the nearest Aldi ...etc. Liverpool one completely regenerated the city centre with its cafes , bars , eating places , cinemas and indoor crazy golf! :) That would be a great thing to include

There is an argument that thick numpties should not be allowed to vote at all unless they can pass a basic intelligence test before receiving a polling card. Would certainly disenfranchise me!

Yes, the now and before picture of Kendray Street someone posted a while ago demonstrates admirably the improvements made; led principally by BMBC. There's still some way to go but these things take time.

The council take a lot of stick especially when it’s central government to blame and on a few occasions they certainly don’t get it right .
Buy a lot of the abuse is orchestrated by those that have an agenda against them and parroted by the pitchforks .
Lots of good things happen in our town because of a labour Government we’ve lots bad but lots good also whilst trying to care for the most vulnerable .
Lots of Towns and cities are a lot worse run than Us and ex industrial areas hit by Tory cuts are heavily underfunded as are we do IMO we punch above out weight .
Torys in the red wall won’t even meet their constituents .

People always seem to know better and that’s the main issue with Facebook. They’ll blast the council for things that aren’t even council related.

I totally agree. I don't believe any of the building on Midland St to be special.

Cheapside around Coffeeboy etc. is quite pleasant now.

It helps with the constant patrols of varying town centre wardens and PCSO's that are based in the market.

If you go down towards KFC especially the back streets its a different story.

Not all the time, I drove on Peel Parade on Sunday afternoon which is the ‘back street’ from KFC to Graham’s Orchard car park and saw nothing. Granted it rained heavy soon after, when I returned later saw nothing of anybody let alone ‘undesirables’

I can't even think which building this is talking about.
all I can remember on Midland Street is Aqua Inn, the building the bus drivers live in and a Greggs...
I remember the Grogger's Rest being down there, but hasn't that already been knocked down?

The other side of the street to Grogger's rest. It was last Woodys Chip shop.

Oh yeah, thanks. Just walked past it on Google Maps.
I'd hardly say it's an architectural landmark. Just another area of town filled with hotch potch buildings. If we can get the investment from somewhere all the buildings on that side of Midland Street and those attached on Eldon Street can go for me. Most of Eldon Street can to be fair, I haven't been in the cinema for a while but I understand they've done that up internally at least. And the Courthouse is desperate for a significant facelift.

Fundamentally, people say stuff that gets engagement/reaction. This **** is just copy & pasted to any decision/proposal/idea that comes from the council. It must be infuriating/disappointing to anyone who works hard for the collective to see this stuff from people who have no context, insight or information.

Probably a bit like here really.

Not so sure it’s the older end that often visit Barnsley that criticise what’s happening. But folk who don’t enter town of any age. Not happy unless moaning.(Bugger off to Meadowhall and stay there, yer miserable buggers or pop down and see what’s happening. You never know, you may like it. )
Everyone I speak to. that go into town are really excited about the venture and it’s starting to look great. I’m led to believe we are only in phase one. And their are plans to do up other parts of the centre. Eldon st, Regent st. Peel st areas.etc. I hope businesses recover to make it thrive. The more footfall the more businesses will want to move in.

They've already started on Peel Street- the bogs are being filled in as I type. Oh, and I'm glad to see the cardigan club carbuncle has finally been sorted (though a public space would have been better than yet another car park).
