I loved Solbauer as a player, gave his all and made me want him to be our captain. I wish him well. Can't fault him wanting to be with his family……..
I love Sollbauer. He is a bit of a legend in my eyes. The big, imposing, experienced lad we needed to stabilise us, and the main reason we stayed up. I hope he doesn't leave, but I get it if he does. I'll be completely gutted if he goes, though. He had such an impact on us. Kaiserslautern would be lucky to have him. At the start of a long road back to something like their former glories, he's exactly what they should be going for. Lower-league players won't intimidate him - he'll chew them up, big time. I'll be keeping an eye on his career. I expect him to be Kaiserslautern's captain next season, and for them to win the league. Oh, and thanks, Kaiserslautern, for battering THE MASSIVES all those years ago. Good lads.
I echo many folks sentiments about Solly. What an absolute top top bloke. He was the experience we so desperately needed at the time. I have no doubts whatsoever that he nurtured the younger members of the squad and certainly organised them. Constantly vocal & had Mowatt not been here, would’ve been Captain for me. After everything the worlds been through the past 18 months, cannot blame the bloke for wanting to move back home to be nearer his family. When he goes, he’ll go with my best wishes and thanks for his efforts and total commitment whilst he’s been with us. Once a Red, always a Red.
Good luck to him. Gave us everything and clearly helped the younger members of the back three. I even wrote him off after his first game, so yet again my footballing knowledge was proven to be paper thin. Good luck Sol.
I think Sibbick snuffs out danger well. This is down to Sollbauer. Andersen and Sibbick have both improved positionally.
I don’t know the answer here but how do we credit Solly with Sibbick’s improvement? It was always one or the other - not together.
Best defender we have/had. Calm, class and and a great leader. A big loss and a depressing omen for the coming season atop the ongoing exodus of our best players and staff with just weeks before the start of the season. There could be trouble ahead.
I think you can add Williams to that list as he was looking quite promising at centre back until he got injured
They did work with each other every day on the training ground where I am sure as well as all the coaches Solly would have been very influential
Not saying he didn’t but so could anybody with Sibbick - why specifically Solly? Being stated like it’s a fact.
It seems more than a coincidence that we improved with the experience of Solbaur on the pitch, with his experience & leadership helping out the young lads during game time so it seems logical he will take this on to the training ground , this is only my opinion ,nothing factual .
Lovely words from him on his Instagram announcing himself leaving Top quality pro and a huge part of why we stayed up the other season. I wish him all the best professionally and personally in whatever he does next.
