Huddersfield are the latest to stop it.... https://www.htafc.com/news/2021/july/a-statement-from-the-squad/ I suspect others will follow like Dennark last night. It's lost the meaning and there are plenty of better ways to support the cause.
I wouldn't say it's lost it's meaning. Certainly not to the players. But the public has been drip fed different narratives and now it's just another way of deciding whether you're us or them. We all know what it's supposed to mean. Certainly the England team were quite explicit about it. Unfortunately a big chunk of knuckle draggers have decided they want to say it means something they don't like.
From the beginning of this I’ve been intrigued by people who can’t wait to predict the end of ‘taking the knee’. What’s your point?
I think its great that the players get to choose. Personally i feel its good for this or an alternative way to keep awareness up. I see a lot of clubs not taking a knee but i don't see what they do as an alternative to raise awareness. So what is the better way that Denmark and Huddersfield will do. I'm genuinely interested and don't see it explicitly without going to look.
Since England became Marxists we are brilliant. If we win the Euros we need to go full on Anarco Syndicalist before the World Cup and expropriate the expropriators.
I'm for taking a knee before the start of a match. I noticed that (at least a couple of the Prem players, Christensen and Hojbjerg) applauded the action of the English players, gesturing towards them as they did so.
None of them will come out and say it but they dont feel comfortable when someone highlights racism either because they are actually racist anyway or they dont like to be reminded there is still discrimination by race.
I’m not looking fwd to the agro when we’re back at Oakwell and I have to decide how to respond to the boos.
"Lost it's meaning" is a nonsense argument for me. Even if it isn't carrying the same impact, it still continues to highlight the issue and it doesn't mean that we can't find additional methods of trying to raise awareness and support the cause. I would suggest that by stopping taking the knee, it almost suggests we've either given up on fighting racism, or we believe it's job done. Which it clearly isn't.
Conveniently doesn’t mention the Danish applauded the English players taking the knee. What really is your point here?
Just going to post a reminder to all those who say the knee is associated with BLM protests and violence that it's not. It started as a peaceful and respectful protest by one man who wished to highlight all discrimination without being associated with the violent protests that were already taking place. Taking the knee isn't just about race. It's about equality in general.
Having issues with taking the knee gesture is not because they think there’s a better way it’s because the reason or cause of the gesture irritates them ,whether they admit it or not choose what argument they choose the reason is transparent. Booing our players because they choose to take the knee Is disgusting and should IMO culminate in them being barred for future tickets and given to those that actually support the team.
