Is the knobhead really saying that at 10pm on Sunday night (at the earliest!) he’s going to announce that the following day is a bank holiday?

It’s a popular gesture with the masses and he doesn’t need to pay for it. Or even worry about the consequences
He keeps surprising me by inventing more ways to screw up the country

Just catching up and saw the news about this.

No doubt he’d do this and largely why I’ve zero interest in this tournament, an idiot chancer politicising sport for personal gain.

A free extra Bank Holiday? Hmm….I’m no fan of Boris by any stretch but I’ll take it if it’s offered :)

That makes a lot more sense! Still think it’s a pretty meaningless gesture and will probably do more damage than good but significantly better than the day after!

It will definitely happen. He's certainly not one to turn down an easy populist point scoring opportunity, plus it will distract from whatever shambles the government is embroiled in over the next week.

How many employers will honour it? Basically a bonus for the civil service.

It’ll make absolutely no difference to me. I’ll still have work to do.. He is a ****, though. :)

I said he'd figure out a way of weaponizing it.

"Good old Boris, funny hair and a free day off, I'll remember that when the next GE rolls round, not the 130,00 deaths he presided over. Ha, free day off".

Johnson obviously riding the England football team bandwagon.

Positive covid cases at their highest for months yet 75% fans allowed in to Wembley.

And all restrictions lifted by the 19th.

Things just arent adding up but the buffoon has the distraction of football to use and if cases continue to rise it will be our fault after a week on Monday.

    He's a popularist.

    He's not a traditional Tory.

He was put in to "Get Brexit Done".

Brexit has been conveniently hidden by the global pandemic, which will explain everything in terms of a fall off in trade at the next election with a new Tory leader. They are not fools the Tory donors.

Wouldn't grumble at it really. We are low on bank hols in this country anyway.

Should be introducing 2 or 3 additional ones on a permanent basis..

I'd go for 1 end of Feb, 1 mid July and 1 end October...

My boss is a miserable Scot so I would love it if my company had to pay me to sit on my arse all day celebrating an England win.

You're not interested in the football tournament because the Prime Minister is a nobhead?

In other news, I'm not going to Oakwell this season because I once saw Dickie Bird turn down several strong shouts for lbw.

Problem is unscrupulous bosses take them off their existing holidays .
I worked at a firm who gave the minimum holidays and any extra eg royal weddings etc were taken off the existing holidays .
Anyone who complained found themselves on disciplinary charges months after and got rid of.
No one I knew won an industrial tribunal there , they were very clever .
Vast majority won’t benefit with the current laws and practices .
