I imagine it’s because 10pm bedtime is quite late for little kids plus there may be extra time and penalties then time to wind down before bed. This allows them to get up a bit later. If it’s like a school I know in Leeds it will still be open at normal time for parents who want/need to drop their kids off at normal time but no child will get a late mark until after the allotted time.
Sounds very sensible to me. Rather than forcing kids up early they’d be better getting some proper sleep in. This is a proper national event and should be watched by as many as possible. Quite why it’s scheduled for 8pm on a Sunday I’ll never know.
Spot on, that’s akin to the email I’ve received from my 10 year old daughter’s school. We can take them in from usual time up to 10:30
The kick off should have been 7pm, 8pm is too late, that's 9pm in central europe , but even then if the kids get in bed for 10.30 and sleep til 07.30 that's 9 hours, should be plenty really.
If a young kid is normally in bed from 7:30pm ish then knocking three hours off their bedtime is going to result in them having tantrums throughout the day and probably falling asleep in lessons. The Heads probably also realise that kids arriving late (or not at all) is inevitable if the parents don’t get up in time to take them in and this way they don’t have to punish the kids for it. It also gives parents a bit longer to sober up before driving them to school which is a worthwhile consideration.
It's weird isn't it? Especially because we're the most western timezone in the Euros, it's even later for everybody else.
We were in bed at 6pm regardless, come summer or winter Thank You Mam & Dad I loved you for that, you brought us up well, you brought us up proper xxx
'It also gives parents a bit longer to sober up before driving them to school which is a worthwhile consideration'. That says a lot about some parenting. Why would they want to get drunk in front if their kids just to watch a football match? Embarrassing really. Kick off should have been earlier.
My youngest finished on Tuesday for his 8 weeks holiday as someone in his class tested positive. Groovy man
