Seriously that penalty choice was absolutely awful. Rashford has played about 4 minutes in the entire tournament. Saka taking the last penalty. Where was Grealish, Sterling, Phillips?
Condolences, but this is a very promising side. Good footballers, great men. Back to the proper stuff at Oakwell now.
I'm afraid Southgate should be held accountable. Saka was awful when he came on and yet he ends up taking a penalty. Typical cautious English approach. Kane despite being awful from minute 45 onwards stays on the pitch, how?? Sterling, where was he in the second half?
The penalty organisation was a shambles. Two players brought on cold and a 19 year old with a handful of caps. Southgate has made some major mistakes tonight but foremost was not going for the kill when we were on top at 1-0.
The other moral being if you have a shot on target after two minutes, try and get at least one more in the next two hours. BBC are saying we had two shots on target but the Stones effort that was tipped over probably would have hit the bar.
Reminded me of Barnsley this season, when certain teams realised they could bully us off the ball. We lost confidence and backed out of challenges. And then key players legs went. Gareth should have had the balls to take Sterling off. He was knackered. Then poor decisions bringing on those to take penners. Ours to lose that one. But ended up being the same old story….
That's true. But it seems as though Gareth didn't allow us to try to be the best team, with the way we approached that match.
