The recriminations have started already. Pathetic. Penalties are are lottery. The detractors should be praising what Southgate and his young side have achieved.

We had 8 defenders on the pitch. We got the early goal then dropped deep to a 5,3,1,1. Manchini soon realised that we were never going to score a second goal and changed formation. I don't want to criticise Southgate too much but he was just too defensive.

I felt tactically England didn't have a reply when Mancini changed it at after half time. We looked lost and Chiesa going off injured was better for us than any substitution Southgate made.

 

Yep aging slow defence and the only time we got the right side of em was in injury time when Chellini pulled Saka back. Find it nuts we kept Sterling on and he didn’t take a pen. Should have subbed him at the start of extra time for Rashford then.
