To be fair as shocking games go last night, mount, sterling kane were all awful didn't help that we tried to park the bus and struggled to get the ball out of our own half. Couldn't understand taking rice off, forget the pens the 2nd half cost us.

Didn't understand why he took rice off who had a decent game to bring Henderson on.

Me too. He was effectively playing as a 10, and the wing backs getting forward meant when he was able to get hold of the ball, he had someone in space to play it to.

Second half, he'd still regularly get hold of the ball and hold defenders off, but didn't have any options.

The Grealish obsession is bizarre. Can someone explain it to me? He’s done nothing in his career that suggests he’s as good of a footballer than say Foden or Sancho yet when all 3 aren’t picked he’s the one fans seem to be in uproar about? He’s a very good footballer but the hype seems way over the top

I’ve seen people picking him on the right & as a central midfielder which are positions he never plays in & people are saying he should be taking the 5th penalty ahead of players that take them for their clubs.

After reading posts on here I thought I was mistaken & he must be the regular penalty taker for Villa but I checked & he isn’t. He’s only ever taken two. Scored one & missed one. It’s all a bit baffling.

I can only think it’s because he doesn’t play for one of the big clubs & therefore no one dislikes him.

I heard a German journalist saying how the German press are baffled that the English fans seem more upset about Grealish not starting than Sancho & I’ve got to agree.

Is it because Villa are a relatively poor PL side and so he stands out more? I'm not a watcher of the greed league so I can't really say who the best players are, I've only seen the majority of them in an England shirt....

Pleased to say I saw Stones and Trippier in Barnsley shirts though :D:D:D

Southgate picked the five who had been best at taking them in training. He said so afterwards.

Seeing as the squad was 26 and no team should need that many players - I'd have taken Mark Noble and James Milner. Wouldn't need them in normal play, but bring them on after 119 minutes.

    Easy peasy.
