I disagree with twisting peoples arms too. But if people make a choice to not get a vaccine, and then can’t access somewhere they wanted to go, then that was their choice
Can't agree. It's meant to be a public safety thing. That trumps the 'unfairness' argument to me. Besides, not many older folk go in clubs ripping their pants off.
See my posts above so basically you have a choice not to get the vaccine but if you don't your life will be limited in what you can do going nightclubs, sporting events, holidays.... very nazi style way of persuading people to have the vaccine.
If I choose not to tax my car, my choice of whether to drive it is limited. If I choose not to eat, I’ll be hungry. At what point in your weird imagination did choice not come with consequences? Edit to add. And comparisons to Nazism and the murder of millions just makes you look properly idiotic. I’m all for healthy discussions, but comparing stopping someone getting into a nightclub (which happens to people for wearing the wrong shoes) with leading them onto gas chambers is beyond a joke.
I wish people would stop using the word "Nazi" in an attempt to unnecessarily dramatise getting/requiring a vaccination. It's really daft.
The comparison to having your car taxed to getting a vaccine is one of the worst I've ever seen. We were told the vaccines won't be mandatory and I can understand why some were reluctant or didn't want it but now boris will give them a push.
FFS you mention Nazis and say my comparisons are the worst. I think you’ve just won the internet. Let’s see how the world looks to you: SS Guard/Bouncer: join that queue to be murdered, because you chose not to have a vaccine. Punter 1: But you said I had a free choice SS Guard/Bouncer: Our club, our rules. SS Guard/Bouncer: join that queue to be murdered. Punter 2: But you said I would be OK cos I had both jabs. SS Guard/Bouncer: Our club, our rules; i don’t like your trainers.
Let's stop all vaccinations for everything and live in a world where the selfish, gullible and ignorant hold the health of everyone else to ransom.
*people complaining about masks and vaccines* Vs. Paramedics: "I still have night terrors of taking people away from their loved ones knowing they’re going to die."
If vaccine passports are necessary for protection of public health and safety they should be made so now, in my opinion. Same with attendance at football. It's more important than 'fairness'. Life is unfair. If they are not, of course, then don't do it now or in September. There will be quite a Tory backbench uprising over this, so I guess Labour's position on the issue will be all-important.
About a 10% chance of long Covid - although it depends on whether you classify a chronic illness as a serious illness - and from the last I heard, two kids in Rotherham hospital on oxygen and about 50% nationwide are unvaccinated and under 50. Given a week lag, the chance of a case being converted to hospital admission is about 2.5% up to 4% if its a fortnight. It is unlikely, but there is always a risk and you could always be unlucky - either through unknown underlying complications or just bad luck.
As you've brought up the current 12 week gap between doses, I think it's a good time to point out that all clinical trials were conducted using much shorter gaps, typically 4 weeks if memory serves. The current 12 week gap was an educated guess in balancing the logistics of providing 50 million first jabs with some degree of effectiveness against providing two doses using the recommended time regime.
Car tax is mandatory for driving a car without it you will get car taken away and a heavy fine. We were told the vaccinations wouldn't be mandatory. That's why it was a poor comparison.
But your comparison with the Nazis was watertight. BTW car tax isn’t mandatory. You can choose not to have a car, or choose to drive a classic car, or an electric car. Choice see! Choice and consequences. likewise Vaccines aren’t mandatory, but they might be a requirement to go to a nightclub, so you can choose… vaccine and nightclub or no vaccine, no nightclub. It’s a choice
I don't think it will just end at nightclubs do you? Race meets, football matches, going abroad, restaurants! Again i don't think any normal person would have a problem with paying car tax. I can see why younger fit and healthy people with a immune system would be reluctant to have a vaccine against a illness with a 99.5% survival rate.
We have different views on this; how many people is 0.5% of the population? Are you happy to see that many deaths? Millions bought lottery tickets when the chances of winning were massively smaller than the chance of dying from COVID-19, but they believed they had a chance it’d be them. But you think a 1 in 200 chance of dying is worth taking a risk for And again - it doesn’t matter how many events you can’t attend having not had a vaccine, it’s a choice. Like owning a car is a choice, like smoking is a choice.
https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/news/local-news/five-things-learned-boris-johnsons-21092932 Barnsley has the highest infection rate in Yorkshire, so people in crowded places may still want to wear a mask if it makes them feel safer.
Whether one agrees or not with removal of all restrictions it's clear that the Government has absolved itself from all responsibility for looking after it's own citizens. Johnson has, with media compliance, manufactured the idea of 'freedom' when in fact we are not free from the virus at all. This flies in the face of virtually the entire scientific community and the WHO saying its stupid and dangerous to remove all restrictions. The Government is now in a position where it is quite clearly prepared to kill its own citizens in order to court popularity. Javid accepted as much when he admitted he fully expected cases to be in the region of 100,000 a day. A proportion of those will die whereas keeping some restrictions would have reduced that number and therefore would have kept deaths down. Therefore, the Government IS willfully killing its own citizens. More death, more pressure on the NHS, more chance of creating a global pandemic of a vaccine resistant variant. All this to spuriously claim they have given us back our freedom and all this when infection rates were already rising. Following the data my arse. This Government is just plain evil.
I don't know how true this is, but there seem to be suggestions an off record government source has been accredited with it... It seem DePfeffel hired a venue to do a speech on Monday to apply his rhetoric to "freedom day". The place was heavily linked to Winston Churchill and he hoped to link VE day with Freedom day. It may be a case that this played a part in DePfeffel wishing to be exempt from having to isolate, as it meant he missed his Churchillian moment (in his head at least) to say the country was saved from covid under his "leadership". Just incredible how anyone so unsuitable to hold a role with such responsibility could find themselves in it.
