I don’t listen to the radio, I use my iPod so I don’t have to skip as everything on it is catered to my taste. Although if I have to listen to the radio I just keep it simple with Radio 2, a good mixture of new & old.
noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the coolest man in the world Mr Ferry
Fair enough. Absolutely love The Beatles personally, though Harrison's stuff is definitely my favourite.
Can’t sing though. Sounds like the British version of Charles Aznavour. Praising his son at an awards ceremony wasn’t cool. ( youngest leader of the fox hunt fraternity) for storming the debate on fox hunting. Should have kept his gob shut.
In the context of this specific question, that's fair enough. Chances are, if Queen are on the radio, it'll be one of their chart singles, and I get that not everyone likes that kind of stuff or Freddie's vocals. However. I've noticed a number of people in recent threads citing Queen as a band they completely dislike. Now I'm not one to shove my musical tastes down anyone's throat, but I'm genuinely baffled that people can't find a Queen song that suits them. This is a band with such a large and diverse catalogue, with all four members individually writing the songs, and with three of them covering lead vocals. Anyway... here's a Queen song I really like, written and sung by Roger Taylor. Enjoy. Or don't... The choice is yours.
For me, Freddie could clearly sing and was in my opinion a great frontman/showman. Also, the band are clearly talented in their craft. They’ve just always grated on me from a young age, I don’t like them and don’t think I ever will. I appreciate their artistic integrity however. At a push, I can listen to Under Pressure, but then that’s largely because of Bowie. But each to their own. When I was younger I used to tell people certain bands/singers were crap etc, but I matured and realised that’s just my subjective opinion. I like people’s passion for artists that they are into, when they immerse themselves, especially in today’s world of downloads, streaming and short attention spans.
There are so many radio channels linked to very specific genres now.... it's all pretty easy to avoid the sort of music or artists some of you seem to dislike so intensely ;-) There are bands, groups, artists I'm less fussed about and some particular songs i'd rather not listen to, but I'd think i'm more likely to change stations or plug in my phones itunes if there was a concerted period of music I disliked or even more so, what mood I was in at the time.
There was a kid at school who absolutely loved Queen. Meanwhile, I was enjoying the new romantic era ahead of the advent of indie and britpop. I can't say there is a song I can think of I'd willingly listen to through choice or any I'd tap my foot or mumble along to. But I wouldn't be arsed o turn it off either unless they decided to belt out a whole album! ;-)
