It seems to suggest as well, but its not completely clear. But then goes on to say we've too many strikers and some are likely to be sold or loaned out.

Good. It was a pleasing read. It means Schopp wants a balanced squad and both he and Conway are aware what we need.

Funny that every manager/coach we've had since going with Yoof have asked for experiace..

I don't think Ismael was too fussed about bringing experience in, we had Sollbauer, Mowatt, James and Woodrow as the spine of the team when he came in, and he was happy to end James' loan and left Sollbauer out of the side.

Schopp just wants to replace the experienced players that have left this summer.

We've got significantly more experience than this time 2 years ago when we had an unbelievably young squad and quite a few had hardly played any football of note.

Though we've lost Sollbauer and Mowatt, compared to 2 years ago, we're signing players in their mid 20s. Morris, Helik, Cole all add a little bit of maturity.

And of course, all the players who are still here who were 18-19 then, have gained experience in that time and more games under their belt.

I do think we might benefit from a bit of experience in the midfield, particularly if we're to retain the ball now. But we shall see what evolves.

Hmmm, no mention of Steve Davis then?
Also who the hell decided an experienced midfielder was a good idea? I mean its that kind of thinking that leads to well......what we've been saying for ages

Ironically Matty James would probably fit in perfectly with our style of play this season.

If I was writing my own assessment of what we need and what we don't, in terms of positions and individuals, I couldn't do much better than that article.

Although having regard to the strikers we've already got (and hopefully offload), I'd prefer one more of absolute quality rather than a couple of "maybe" types.

Me too. It's given me a bit of excitement that we're off loading a few I didn't rate anyway and bringing possibly four (including Oulare) in.

Barnsley hasn't had this many strikers since the early 80s.

He'll hopefully be an improvement on Chaplin, Adeboyejo and Miller.

Or post Cryne era, the board have suss"t out that if we want to stay a championship club that experience is not only vital... It also helps the long term development of the said Yoof.
    So win win..

Looks like they’re taking Vals critique about not converting enough chances on board with a scramble for good strikers .
No criticism of some of our current strikers dedication or work rate but the end product was lacking .

I'd say the most obvious period where a glut of very young inexperienced players were signed was under the "most successful transfer window ever".

Thankfully a bit of sanity seems to have taken hold since then, but of course, that can change in an instant.

I think the club have been suckered in by what Vardy achieved at Leicester City and have signed some rubbish and wasted money as a consequence. The best policy was the one where we signed players like Winnall.
