I maybe wrong but I think we have spent more seasons in the second tier than any other team, which may skew those figures, if only the arsenal chairman hadn't bribed the other teams after the war.
We have, mate, but that’s not skewing these figures - they’re an absolute. More seasons means more opportunities for points. Teams like Barnsley, eh?
Barnsley were elected to the 2nd division for the 1898/9 season and have only spent 36 seasons out of it (including the one in the Prem). A total of more than 70 seasons. Apart from the 60s and 70s when we spent 22 years in the 3rd and 4th divisions, we generally got promoted back to the 2nd division within a couple of seasons.
