You've totally ignored the schools aspect there, which in my opinion is by far the biggest contributing factor to case numbers.
Getting pinged by the app encourages people to go and get tested. You only read what suits don't you. Fans in stadiums were a drop in the ocean.
Yes I do. I don’t think you can get a cigarette paper between them. I think they are ideologically indistinguishable. Which makes me sad as ****.
I can't believe you actually believe that considering the nonsense they came out with at the beginning before the experts forced their hands. It's been clear since the beginning that they were and are against lockdowns. Then again many of your posts on here could be from Boris at that time, so I can see why you wouldn't want to see that. I could not be more sure that if the tables were turned the Tories would be vehemently against lockdowns and using the same talking points you use on here. It's been the same all around the world, the right wing parties are the ones against lockdowns.
Nonsense. We have a right wing party in power. They locked us down. The ‘centre left’ party in opposition applauded it in. This transcends traditional views of left and right in the same way as Brexit did.
They locked us down due to the pressure from the public and experts. You even acknowledged this yourself I believe (I know SuperTyke did, I think you did, apologies if not). Of course it was spun as "bowing down to media pressure" at the time. I'd argue that Boris Johnson cares more about his own popularity than their party values, which is the only reason we locked down. Lockdown is definitely not a Tory policy though.
Schools been shut probably having a impact I agree, lots of healthy people in schools getting tested from my experience. As I just replied to SuperTyke I really don't think cases are that relevant for a number of reasons. I think the big worry ahead is a potentially awful Flu season coupled with other bugs doing the rounds.
To cherry pick Sweden as ‘more like us’ as a comparison is a joke. A country with a population of only 10m and one of the richest countries in Northern Europe

The general trend is towards early and hard lockdowns being much more effective. And equally not dragging the lockdown out for too long... So basically everything England didn't do. Obviously there's still a lot more research to be done but right now lockdowns are shown as justified. It's just that they need to be implemented properly to be truly effective. Britain's failings are a consequence of terrible, erratic government decisions on lockdowns. As an aside, if you want to compare the effectiveness of Sweden's unique approach to Covid 19, then the most suitable comparison is the other Nordic countries. The most similar being Denmark. Cases: https://www.statista.com/statistics/1102257/cumulative-coronavirus-cases-in-the-nordics/ Deaths: https://www.statista.com/statistics/1113834/cumulative-coronavirus-deaths-in-the-nordics/ For clarity, Sweden's population is about twice that of Denmark.
I haven’t? The first point mentioned testing and schools but testing hasn’t dropped, which was my point. I’m also not sure how schools impact the figures when there’s a lag or they take their term break at different times.
Give over. ‘He does it almost every post’ is a bit rich coming from someone who has to retract what they say so often as they rush to fire a response out. Testing hasn’t dropped, so as much as the points might be true they haven’t contributed have they? We also only had the Germany game in a half empty stadium followed by two semi-finals and the final. Wasn’t like the whole of the Euros was played in England and it was only the final that appears to have contributed to the pingdemic.
I’m guessing it’s the fact that the majority of those who get ill from covid are fully vaccinated, a large number of those that aren’t have finished school for the summer and/or are also likely to be asymptomatic and so don’t get tested.
Jesus wept. I used it as a better comparison than Brazil and you’re saying it’s a joke? I might take myself out for a drive today and go check out all the favelas…..
there is a little bit of truth in what you say according to reports. The belief is that infection rates travel faster in areas where people have to undertake manual labour jobs and hence have to interact. This however goes against that argument that lockdowns don’t help and also i don't believe the survival rate is based in class. Mental health is very valid point and i think we havent seen the worst of this as an illness thats not been handled too well of late.
I do. But I’ve also been pretty consistent in staying open in general throughout in different ways and forms to support businesses and other sectors that have been crippled by failed policy.
