Going to have to spend some cash soon if “all the money we receive will be invested in the squad” is correct.

    Val money
    Chaplin money
All the players gone so far (including young lads) wages.

Also I’m guessing they’re trying to cover the losses from covid too if you haven’t noticed there’s not much money getting thrown around by many clubs

Need some bigger signings to go through in the prem and the money will trickle down. I thought jacob brown and struber going covered our covid losses.

not sure they mean right now. There will need to be some available cash in the next transfer window or two. I do think though we are still one or two short in the squad. We have replaced but not really added

Were short in midfield by 2/3 and need to move another forward on and replace with better.
Be happy with Woodrow, Oulare, Cole, Morris and one more.

I imagine we’ll sign a centre mid and a left back. Possibly an attacker too.

We had a very big squad in my opinion and have rightly pruned it a fair bit this summer. Of course, we'd have rather retained Mowatt but such is life.

We could vs Cardiff field this:

Collins, Brittain, Sibbick, Helik, Andersen, J.Williams, Palmer, Styles, Morris, Woodrow, Oularé.

There's not much gone there. I'd argue Styles has the potential to outstrip Alex in that position. That's not a dig at him either, he told me Callum was already better than him!

You could move Styles back to wing-back if you like, and put Kane in midfield. Similar player to Mowatt. And we'll be adding another centre mid yet.

We have Jasper and Kitching vying for a defender's spot. Both are as good if not better than Toby. Aapo is still here and he's solid in two positions.

Clarke looks likely to play further up this season, but is an option at LWB. Ben Williams is fit again. Maybe we'll sign a LWB?

Freezy, Vic and Devante competition up front, maybe another to come still.

And we've a fair few of our younger players out on loan, getting games and experience.

Let's hope for another competitive campaign.

Stop talking sense. Not welcome here.

Personally I'd like to see further depth at CM but fully confident in the club to get what they need done whilst being financially sensible.

Let's just hope Schopp isn't following Wayne Rooney's coaching methods and two footing our players and sidelining them for 3 months

Do you not think that the money received Brown & Struber would not have gone towards the signings of Morris, Helick , Kitchen , Kane & Dike"s loan fee ? . I actually think we invested more on those players than we received & still had covid impeding our finances .

Val money may have gone towards lack of income due to covid or paying to get in our new head coach. Chaplin money we only sold him today. The young lads out on loan will be on peanuts as they aren't first team players. We've lost one of our key players from last season with Mowatt. Dike didn't belong to us. I think we've done well this summer.

all seems sensible to me. The reality is we will struggle to match last season but we seen to have enough to be competitive at this level and a quality central mid could still pivot us near a top 10 finish.

We've only bettered last season three times before in our history. So it's a heck of a challenge, and I'm sure supporters accept that whilst last season was great, we haven't all of a sudden become a club that 'should' be up there.

However, we all start on zero points. If we can get off to a good start, who knows? There should be no pressure on us whatsoever.

I'm more excited at the return of you lot. Thousands up and down the country backing the Reds. Oakwell with its biggest crowds in years.

And I know we've some very good footballers. Proven at the level now. And exciting new signings.

    What's not to like?

Do you think we didn't have enough CM's last season? Because if you didn't we effectively have the same number this season (if we are moving Styles there full time).

Personally I always like to have an exciting young prospect from the prem on loan - I'd go with physical, dynamic CM.

I wouldn't sign a LWB until we see how B. Williams gets on there, he would also be my first pick.

I guess it depends on what formation we play.

    Collins

    Anderson Helik Kitching

    Brittain Palmer Styles B. Williams

    Morris Woodrow Oulare

Would be my starting lineup. Subs:

Walton, Sibbick, J. Williams, Cole, Kane, Odour, Halme

Don't you think our new manager wants or needs anymore players then?
I'd guess he's pretty keen to replace Mowatt with a fairly significant signing.
