On loan last season to Metz, Toulouse striker Aaron Leya Iseka (23) will not stay at TFC. The Belgian Under-21 international will be transferred in the coming hours to Barnsley (Championship). The transaction amount was not sent. The Belgian arrived in Toulouse in 2018.o
https://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=80723 10 without a goal. We already have a few strikers like that
I just hope it’s not a sign that we’re about to sell Woodrow or Morris. Not sure we need any more forwards on top of Woodrow, Morris, Obbi, Cole and Frieser. Would much rather sign a left wing back or central midfielder
Fingers crossed. It had better not be Cauley. Can we sign his brother too...... https://www.footmercato.net/a7665070370486938170-tfc-aaron-leya-iseka-vers-la-championship
Not sure that the existing contract or a player liking his club have much to do with it these days. If the price is right... "Cauley Woodrow, come on down!"
Keeping 6 forwards happy will be harder with us going back to just 3 subs in a game but more the merrier for me providing they have enough quality.
We've lost Dike, Schmidt and Chaplin. We've potentially signed Cole, Standard Liege chap, and this chap. Aren't we just going like for like with the likelihood Miller and Big Vic might be moved on as well?
Given Schmidt was out on loan last season, I’d say there was only really Chaplin and Dike that needed replacements bringing in for, with backup to Woodrow, Morris, Cole, Obbi and Frieser coming from the u23s (Marsh, Thompson). Unless any of those 5 are going as well.
I think you start the season with the strongest squad possible and make calls on it as the season goes - like Schmidt going out on loan. So for me you replace like for like in the first team squad and then adapt and change once you've kicked off. I don't expect to see Big Vic or Miller featuring and I don't expect us to call on Marsh or Thompson too much next season either. Would be delighted with the six forwards we're rumoured to be starting with - especially given the variety they offer in attributes and also positional play e.g. out wide or more central.
There used to be the old cliché about "keeping everyone happy." Six strikers worked well last season, but it feels like a lot more of a luxury with only three subs...
I thought it was supposed to be more difficult to sign non-top tier talent from Europe post Brexit? Or has nothing actually changed?
The lad has played top flight French footy and has U21 international caps. That will easily qualify him under the new rules. Brexit affects signings from lower/less well known foreign leagues I believe.
I will be surprised if Woodrow gets to the end of the summer transfer window a Barnsley player. If this signing is true then we are being proactive in getting players in so they get some pre season. Mowatt Val Woodrow seem to fit, WBA have some money from parachute payments. I wouldnt bet much against it happening it makes sense to me.
