Sounds like your wifi rather than the BB - based on the speed wired speed tests you've done above. No way would that give issues posting on here.
We've not got a landline nor a cable connection, I honestly can't see the point in either as I don't do gaming, watch lots of videos or ring people other than on my mobile. We've been with Three mobile since 2017 on an unlimited package which currently costs £22 per month. We originally used the modem in the Three package, with an external antenna, which gave around 20Mb, which was ok for general surfing. However, recently I've replaced it with a much more up to date (and much more expensive!) Huawei B818 4G router which I bought myself. This immediately gave us 80Mb, a four fold increase in speed. It's been fine, and when 5G arrives it will be even better even though I'll have to replace the modem and antenna. I'm hoping even iFollow will work on it.....
I'm waiting for fttp/ftth coming to my area. Currently on 30 down 9 up. I even had a gander at Starlink the other day. Seems a hefty setup price but I'm expecting it to be amazingly fast in the future once Musk gets more satellites up there.
I'd expect £40 to £60 per month for the top end residential products. Openreach have just installed FTTP here, and it's £60 for the 1Gbit tier with Zen which I am very tempted by. BT slightly cheaper and a cheaper activation.
Move to York 24 quid a month. No additional cost for a phone line This is a bit slow. Have had over 800mbps before. Seriously though,I would check into the throttling on the unlimited packages. Quite a lot of the operators will throttle you down to probably slower speeds than you are getting after a certain amount of data is consumed (unless it has changed recently. Havent looked for a little while and haven't looked at the 5G offerings which could be a game changer).
I don't think there'll be any point in installing cable here, as its been installed in our old home which is a mile away 20 years ago when we lived there! Now, I expect with 5G and Musk the cost of installing the infrastructure will make it redundant.
