Who said we're going down?! People have highlighted the fact we've made some very basic errors today and frequently given the ball away on and around our own 18 yard box. Man City are fantastic and of course we won't come up against that level of quality (unless we have a solid cup run ) but we sure gave them a helping hand at times! Can't wait for Cardiff now, here's to playing them off the park and getting a comprehensive win to start the season ! You reds!
Would take a point but I think we can beat them . There is a lot of pressure on Mick McCarthy and Terry Connor to deliver a successful season down there (play offs) no matter how much they downplay it! We know what MM's all about and Cardiff won't out football us but they will be very competitive and strong from set pieces. Keep Collins and Moore quiet and let Woodrow and Morris do the business!
It's hard to make predictions at this stage, but I'll always take a point away from home. And personally, I've never seen us win there. I happened to be away with friends the year we won 4-3 down there, which is just my luck!
Was DJing in Cumbria tonight so missed the match. Odour is better on the left of a front 3 if we play that way, or on the left wing, if we play a back four. Bellingham found him out as wing back & Val never really gave him another chance. He's not strong enough to play LWB.
Must say I agree with YT and Red Rain. All these friendlies are literally meaningless in isolation. If we'd beaten City 4-0 it would have equally counted for nought in spite of the numerous 'we're going up' claims. Real business begins next week and even then its just that, the beginning. If we lose its not the end of the world. Give the manager and players plenty of time folks. It's the start of the season and at the moment Schopp DOES have plenty of time.
We could have played Northampton or Crewe & had a comfortable afternoon but we played the best side in England , our new coach will have learnt a lot more from this fixture than an easy pre season stroll indeed it will be extremely beneficial , some of the comments & reactions of our fans are way over the top but unfortunately predictable , pathetic really .
Keep Ismael's intensity and rigorous planning, but develop the passing game - if we do, we should have another good season.
I think from what we've seen so far, we've gone back to how Struber had us set up i.e. passing it out from the back. I guess the intensity and extent of the press will depend on the opposition.
Which world do you live in. Looks like the one that is different to actual reality.. Barnsley fans/public have never been like... Barnsley Barnsley ra ra ra.. win or lose.. they call it as they see it. If they see something decent they'll let you know. But also if they smell bull5h1t. They'll also let you know. You say get behind em.. I'll tell you something the act of taking the knee in front of a crowd next season will split the fan base from the get-go.. I'd say if you want unite the fans and just get on with the sport... Scrap the virtue signaling for a start..
I disagree. If the team want to take the knee that is their decision. They certainly shouldn't be persuaded not to because of possible negative fan reaction.
You’ve managed to take a thread about a friendly game and the merits of playing out from the back, and made it about taking the knee. Well done you. Maybe fans can unite against the idiots that boo an anti racism gesture.
And another thing is that quite a few of our team will be playing first team football next week, and that must be on their minds regarding injuries. Where as very few of the City team would have to worry about that.
Most Barnsley fans I know will always back a team that gives their all, and this group have always seemed to give nothing less than 100% I'll certainly get behind 'em irrespective of what you say
