Others can do as they please. I don't speak for anyone else, but myself. I was Valerien Ismael's biggest fan (Oh, yes I was Tyke 67 ) and loved watching our team under him. We showed we could beat anyone and be afraid of no one. But, sadly, he's gone. I thank him for what he achieved with us and wish him the best for the future, except when WBA play us. However, there's a new kid in town. I haven't the foggiest idea if Markus Schopp is any good, but he has my full backing. He'll bring his own ideas on how he interprets the high press style. Our players have shown they are capable of competing at the top end of the Championship. Although we've lost our two main leaders on & off the pitch, we've recruited three new lads with the possibility of one or two more coming in. I have no idea how we'll do this season. I'm not clever & knowledgeable enough to form an opinion yet, especially from a few preseason friendlies like the experts claim to do. I'm chomping at the bit to attend Oakwell again, to meet up with my friends again, to see our team again and see our new Head Coach.
We'll do what we do as always, support our club. I think everyone at the club is trying their best and they're getting more right than wrong these days. It's a new season, fresh start, let's see what we can do. Also, it'll be great for people to get back in Oakwell with friends. Brilliant stuff.
You might have been Val's biggest fan, but I loved him more (Ooooh yes I did) and I too am eager for the new season to start
Well said, excited, can’t wait, are just 2 descriptions of how I fell about the coming season. I’m equally as excited to see our ‘new team’ and coach as I am sad Big Val and Mowatt have left. We move on. COYR
I've always looked forward to a new season. Even when we were usually in the bottom half of Division 4.
I don't remember those days old mate. We got promoted in my first season under Clarkey..... Glory hunter me
What an excellent post , I agree & echo everything you have said , think I might employ you as my ghost writer !!
Why can't you think of anything other than positives about BFC at the moment. We lost our head coach and captain which came as no surprise. The new signings have got to be seen as positives. Hence replying to this thread rather than the wind up thread. Get me a pint what he's drinking ffs. We finish in top half as got to be seen as a result in my opinion.
I am fairly confident going into this season. What we need to remember is that this is Barnsley, we have this every year, if you want glory year in year out then go and support City, Utd, or Liverpool, if people want to do that then so be it, but being a Barnsley fan has always had its moments, and I for one would not change that for the world. That is the romance of supporting your local team, through thick or thin.
We’re a bunch of charming, waarm buggers, alreight. Choose who’s playing for us. All part of the weird, bumpy joy ride of being a Barnsley fan..
