Don’t know what the answer is but we have to change something. Root’s position as captain might even be coming under scrutiny soon too. Absolute shambles.
How have we gone into another test match with this top 3?! Desperate for a change now this really isn’t working.
He’s party to team selection. Imagine he has a big say and keeping faith in the same batting failures time and again is not doing him any favours.
I wasn't a fan of Root as captain from the start. He's our best batsman (ok, not a difficult thing at the minute!) by a mile and I'd rather he focuses on that and he tries to get back to scoring big hundreds. His decision making is poor, his interviews are generally quite weak and the review process often feels hopeful rather than a cold logical process. The problem we have is who would you replace him with? Our bowlers are either new or close to retirement. We don't know who to play as wicket keeper, and Root aside, our entire top order could easily be picked by lottery and the scores wouldn't be affected by much. I suspect they will change personnel shortly, but I'm not too sure what that would change. Our game for a decade has been coaching towards flat track sloggers that can't play test cricket in tough conditions. It's little wonder when we ask them to bat properly that they can't do it very well.
We look a poor side, there's not really much else to say! They could swap personnel but I can't see much changing in the way of performances and results in the short term. To go 1-0 up in India and crumble the way we did was poor, to lose at home to New Zealand was embarrassing and I see nothing other than India winning this test match series. God help us in the ashes series this coming winter!
I know it’s not looking good but it’s only one innings and India are the top rated test side. C’mon England
The weather's helped me. A thunderstorm has just started here and now can't get any sky signal to watch it any more. Merciful.
