We look a bit short in midfield. Two in middle? Benson and Styles. Or three with Kane or Palmer. Brittain's down as a defender, so right full back. With loads of forwards it'll be three up front. Wing backs? 5-2-3. Or same as last season 3-4-3. 4-3-3 with Kitchen on left. Anybody got any idea?

Why does Palmer seem to get dismissed when we talk about Midfielders.
He was an integral part of our success last year.

Freezer is more of a midfielder, box to box. Chips in with the odd goal.. :)

I'm assuming Benson will play. So Styles back on left side and Palmer in middle.

For me, the unknown with regards to the formation is one of the exciting aspects of the upcoming campaign. Plenty are guessing, but don't actually know. We have some talented young lads in our midfield and I, for one, have no intention to write any of them off.

    I'd go:

    Collins

    J. Williams Helik Anderson Brittain

    Palmer Kane

    Morris, Styles, Cole

    Woodrow.

So you think Brittain is more suited to the left side then.

    For this weekend, I’m guessing:

    Collins
    Brittain Sibbick Helik Kitching J.Williams
    Palmer Styles
    Frieser Woodrow Morris

I don’t think the formation is a point for discussion tbh. We’ve played 343 all preseason and appear to be signing players for that system.

the choice of players depends on players fitness I suppose. If everyone is available I think our first 11 is:

    Collins
    Sibbick Helik Andersen
    Brittain Benson Palmer Styles
    Frieser Woodrow Morris

with injuries and new signings getting up to scratch you could make like for like swaps but in my opinion (and I could be wrong) that’s will be our go to

i think we're carrying players for different systems, so stiles may not play with palmer or kane, just depends on which players for which system. . . flexability

I think Jordan Williams is a better player. So I'd move Brittain to accommodate him.

I'd be surprised if it isn't this, just because I think it's a bold move for Schopp to take a newly gelling team away from home in a new formation.

We'll start with 3-4-3, but if the first couple of games don't go well, I think he'll soon revert to the 4-1-4-1 or 4-2-3-1 that Schopp has been reported to prefer.

Be interested to see who he plays from our current squad just in front of the back 4 if he does go to 4-1-4-1. Palmer/Moon/Halme?

Can’t see it being much different. Would imagine Benson, Oulare and Iseka are a week or so behind in the pre-season preparation. Kane must’ve m had some form of injury, so may be a bit behind in terms of fitness.

Forgot about Cole, but not sure if he’s been injured too.

You needed to caveat that with "except for the US election" thread, but otherwise...
