I'm not too sure that he alone got us promoted and kept us up against the odds I personally thought he was poor in the fighting relegation season. I'd never rate him as a Redfearn or Hignett in a million years. Whereas big Val is probably the best we've ever had.

I didn't mean to suggest he did it by himself but he was consistently good. Val's record for us was immense BUT it wasn't even a full season. I'd have loved for him to have shown us what more he could do over a longer period.

quite an interesting read. I didn’t watch the match so no idea how they played. Wonder if he will come in for Helik, Styles and possibly even Collins with the Pereira cash. Wouldn’t surprise me if he did

I reckon Benson is probably a better footballer then Mowatt, but I can’t see him having the goal scoring threat he had. So what we gain from an all round player we definitely won’t be replacing his goals- that’s my worry.

Mowatt is one of the best midfielders in the championship so that’s a big call based on having never seen him play!

I would rather have a midfielder who can create goals for the forwards than one who tries to do it all himself.
With Vals style of play our midfield was often bypassed so let's see what happens.
Mowatt would probably have fitted in better now.

Terrible result for us last night, just seen the table, we've dropped 2 places.

Yes you have said before that we need a midfielder who can score up to 20 goals a season & create more assists than Mowatt , where are we going to get one of those on our budget ? I would be interested to know who you think we should be signing who can do this, please name the players we should go for .

And if we do find one, they won't be here for long. I liked Mowatt, but he frustrated me a lot too. He came on a lot under Val, but before that I thought he lacked a bit of creativity. Hopefully Benson can fill the void.

Mowatt was class & the chances of finding a player that Stephen Dawson says we should buy is zero , a player of that quality would have to be premiership class & would cost millions upon millions, some of our fans want to get in the real world & stop playing fantasy football .

We can't afford that. How much do you think someone like that would cost. How much in wages would they want and how would you convince them to come to a club that, despite last season's brilliant run, is not seriously expected to repeat it.

No it wasn’t for the under 23s. Mowatt had played 100+ first team games at Leeds before we bought him.

Hed won Leeds player of the year 18 months before we signed him and young player of the year the year before that.

It was reported Arsenal had made a £10m bid for him around that time.

The season before he came to us he’d lost his way and wasn’t getting selected. Remember though he was young kid and Leeds were going through managers on an almost monthly basis.

To suggest that Mowatt was unknown is absolute nonsense.

Only 12 months before we’d signed him I think he was probably one of the hottest prospects outside the Prem.

True - but…..Styles has the ability to be better than Mowatt, without any doubt.

Laughing at people making assumptions about Benson despite never having heard of him three weeks ago.

‘He doesn’t look like a goalscorer’. ‘He doesn’t look like a set-piece taker’.

Give the kid a chance. Hope he gets three assists and a free-kick goal to top it all off in Cardiff today. Up the reds!

Hopefully, but we have yet to see him play in the middle & there is an expectancy level on his shoulders , time will tell

    Messi.
He'll come for 500 quid a week. He doesn't need money any more.
