Oulare or Iseka, perhaps both, will get a place on the bench for the two upcoming home games? I can see a front three of Woodrow, Morris & Frieser making the starting line up. Also, it'll be interesting to see who Markus selects in midfield as well, with the likes of Styles, Benson, Palmer & Kane available to him. I accept this is hardly the sort of stuff designed to solve the problems of the Middle East.
If the other unfit players are ahead of Oulare and Iseka and Cole cannot put his foot through a ball faster than a striking sloth then these guys must be some way off.
Personally I think that it must be a clearance issue as I’m sure either of them would have been on the bench at least yesterday.
I would hope both are involved in some capacity, if a professional footballer is still so far behind in terms of fitness at this stage, it doesn't look very good on the individual. I haven't heard any mention of pre existing injuries? So I assume it's purely down to inactivity, which is poor in my opinion.
....or they might not be match ready. Remember there's 'match fit' and there's 'Barnsley match fit' - there's a difference between the two. I think we'll be careful with Oulare as he's not played for 6 months and has a recent history of injuries and Iseka might not have the required conditioning for the Championship yet. Additionally, it could be the influence of the new sports scientist and Schopp might be looking at the bigger picture and will gently ease them in over the next month. The last thing we want is for them to break down after a couple of games and be out for a period of time.
They both had to isolate when they arrived. Not only did that slow their progress to match fitness but it will have sent their fitness backwards. Unfit players aren't just left out because they're not ready for first team football but because it makes them seriously prone to serious injury. They'll be up to full fitness soon I'm sure. No need to start attacking them before they've kicked a ball.
It's interesting to see so many different opinions and approaches. Another reason why I'm so looking forward to being back at Oakwell on Saturday.
I doubt we'll see much of them until after the international break. Give them chance to build up some fitness etc. Now I've said that they'll probably both start on Saturday.
It is a documented fact that Cole and the other two new strikers did not make the bench for the first game against Cardiff because they lack match fitness. Who is writing them off, the trouble is last season being the exception, finding our feet after another summer of change can mean we are bottom 3 by XMAS and looking at survival as the next great achievement. This has happened so many times, we never build, we always rebuild and suffer the consequences more often than not.
We waited a long time for Cauley to be fit and it was worth the wait. Hopefully same for The Belgian Two
Cole had tested positive for Covid but otherwise isn't far off match fit. The Belgians had 2 weeks without training while they isolated and are a while away
I fancy one or t’other to get a few minutes. Once we’re out of sight with goals from Cauley , Freezer, Styles, Morris, Benson & Helik...
Yep, the papers have been returned but fao Dane Murphy on the envelope so they were accidentally binned.
