Having both been knocked out of the Carabao Cup by lower league opposition having fielded weakened sides, both teams will be at full strength for this weekend's fixture. Whilst our away record against Coventry is notoriously poor, at Oakwell we've experienced much more joy. Between 2006-2009, we lost 4 straight home league games vs the Sky Blues, but in the 7 competitive meetings since, we've won 4, drawn 2 and lost 1. We've also won a friendly in that time too, and the defeat was an FA Cup fixture. In terms of general form, Coventry ended the season with 3 wins and a draw away from home. This came after a run of just 2 away wins in 22 competitive away fixtures before that. In fact, they amassed more points in their final 4 away fixtures, than they did in the rest of the season. And eilst you shouldn't use friendlies as a barometer, Coventry played 5 away friendlies against varying degrees of opposition. They lost 4, with their only victory over Leamington Spa. Maybe it will be their away form which is their undoing again this season. Our home form at the end of last season was much better in contrast. Prior to the play off semi final defeat, we'd lost just 3 in 18 competitive fixtures at Oakwell. One of these was against Chelsea. In terms of line up, I'm expecting a similar side to last Saturday. Benson may come in for Palmer, but I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't. Would like to see Oulare and Iseka at least on the bench, if they do indeed exist. 1500 away tickets sold, which is slightly disappointing. However they do have to watch a Mark Robins team I'm going for 2-1 with Styles and Woodrow on the scoresheet.
3-1 Nervy start, but then a solid performance that get's rid of the early season uncertainty and gets the crowd back onside (for a week or so). Woodrow, 2 Frieser.
Expected Coventry to sell more i thought 3k at least so 1500 is disappointing. Be suprised to see palmer drop has I thought he was good against Cardiff. I'll be positive 2-1 barnsley just don't know how we score 2.
That's the understatement of the century that mate, literally.... last win away against Coventry was 1923
To be honest, I wouldn't change the midfield unless Palmer is struggling from his knock last weekend.
Other option would be to play palmer and benson and move styles implacable of j williams but I don't think that would be too popular.
2-0 Reds This will complete our first double header of the 21-22 season following our 2-0 away loss on February 19th 2022.
I don't see Jordan Williams starting either to be honest. It'll be Ben. But I think I'm in a minority of rating both Williams brothers.
I like them! To be fair I’m more than happy with a Phil Chambers clone - and understand we can’t sign a Roberto Carlos!
