I would never have a pop at the comms / media team / box office mate. Always been spot on in my opinion. And re-reading my tome, it did start with "on a lot of matters". I think Ben was very vocal - over the top at times but you could never accuse him of silence. GG was probably the best of the bunch, in my opinion, and I always felt a dose of positivity after he had spoken. Very upbeat. Dane, I had little or no time for. Sorry if that sounds harsh. Spoke only when under pressure to do so. Conway sometimes comes across as intelligent, sometimes as sneaky. I never quite bought in to the 'Con-man' moniker but kind of got why people did. And again, only really speaks on pressing matters when there is pressure to do so (aside from new signing welcomes, which lets face it, we would expect).
Dane probably delivered the greatest improvement, but was not a communicator until latter times. He probably signed the better players & changed our short contract system. If you are developing players you need to get them on 3-4 year contracts to get full value. Admittedly, that will include some you have trouble offloading if they don't perform.
I have absolutely nothing to do with any of the perceived issues so I'd only be hazarding a guess if I was that way out. Which I'm not. Sorry if that seems ignorant of me, or unhelpful, but there's just some things I'm not going to be able to help with. Ask me about the website, social media, the programme, photos, videos, match reports, teamsheets, communication, marketing, etc etc, and I'll always try my best if I'm able to, to help folk. But yeah, you might as well be asking me to iron some clothes. Or comb my hair.
I've decided to park at the Old Moor RSPB reserve and cycle in from there on the TPT, it's just over 5 miles, off road and flat (Great Central railway) all the way to the bottom of Oakwell Lane. The bike I'll use is an old Giant hybrid, much knocked about and not really worth pinching, I'll take 2 locks and lock both wheels and frame to some railings. I'll also get my 10 miles a day in - my average for this year so far .
Brand new ones for this season. Can't wait for them to be ruined walking around the cinder track and on the pitch.
Is it correct then that if you bought a parking space at the back of the East Stand, in anticipation of a speedier entry and exit, you are now in the same queue as the rest, coming and going, without an explanation as to why this has changed? Or have I got this wrong? (I hike up the hill from the back of the North stand, so mud is my only real issue. Plus potential coronary).
There's the big fence behind the corner of the Ponty and East stand which goes down towards Pontefract Rd at the side of the car park and I think there are railings near the corner of Ponty and West stand (might be wrong about that)....
Theres going to be a bridge at the bottom of Oakwell Lane but it will be closed on match days...access will be down to Stairfoot then turn left to Cundy Cross and left again down Pontefract Rd
I wonder if the stand off between the Crynes and the Cartel is not leading to a Mexican stand off on keeping everything ship shape. Hence these restrictions.
Won't be buying owt from Flannels, despite a relative working there now. Good job for her. Will be scrubbing up some 3 year old addidas. Been out of work for funking 18 months.
How did you do that? I had my East Stand Car Park pass taken off me for the fan zone for the 18/19 season. I'd be genuinely fuming if they were put back on sale without asking the people who'd had them 10+ years if they wanted them back.
Er……there’s a problem with that plan. The site closes at 5pm and I imagine a barrier will go down to lock your car in overnight
